To print bar codes you first need POS software that will contain all the pertinent information of your products. The software then will generate a bar code and assign it to your individual products allowing them to be scanned for inventory and checkout purpose. You can find labels here: Labeldomain com

Can you print the barcode using the software that come with the printer. Zebra TLP2844 come with basic Designer software. Test whether it's printing the barcode or not.

IF it prints the barcode via its software, then you might be having barcode font problem between your application/os and the printer.

I called CAM Commerce Solutions, the retail POS software we use, and they were able to fix my problem. I was missing another component of the print program that only CAM Commerce has.

Here's the right way to fix the problem.

Autosense Procedure, Configuration Label and Dump Mode:
Models: Orion (2442, 2443 and 2543), Transport (P-2242), Xport (P-2222), LP/TLP Strata (2684), LP/TLP-2722, 2742, 3742, LP/TLP-2824 ,LP/TLP 2844 and TLP-3842

1. Turn off printer and have media loaded (on older Transports, with no ON/OFF switch, remove battery).
2. Hold feed button down, and turn printer back on (on older Transports, re-insert battery) while holding down the feed button.
3. When the light starts flashing, release the feed button.
4. Printer light will turn green and advance a few blanks.
5. After printer stops advancing and prints the internal information, press the feed button one time.
6. You will get another label with the "Out of Dump" message on it.

Printer is now ready for use.

your problem may be in the serial /usb adaptor that you are using any reason why you cannot connect the usb cable from the printer directly to a usb port on the computer like any other printer

This is always a calibration or label template size issue.

• Make sure your software template size matches the size label in the printer.

I would re-calibrate the printer and see if that helps, usually the quickest and correct means to fix ya ! Calibrate Zebra Desktop Printer

Either your printer needs calibrated: Calibrate Zebra Desktop Printer Or your label template size( in the software) does not match the label size. I recommend the calibration then looking at the software label templates.

This could simply be old direct thermal labels. Direct thermal labels have a shelf life of about 1 year from the date of manufacture. After that time has lapsed the thermal coating on the labels begins to dissipate and this will cause labels to print light or faded. You can trouble shoot with a roll known to be fresh. Your software label template does not match the size label your printing on. Make sure your label size IE: 2.25" x 1.25" matches the template size in the software, then perform this calibration: TLP 2742 is printing blank labels
