I have worked in a lot of kitchens and don't really have a preferance. The top mounted compressor is better for you as it is easier to service and leaves more cabinet room. Dirt and dust also stay near the floor. YOu won't have to clean the filter as often up high The disadvantage to this in a kitchen is that kitchens are hot and up high is hotter still. Order a cheaper model. No glass doors, no stainless steel. You don't need these features.

need correct model number. there are 3 different versions of the 232 that start with RE. Usually have 3 letter after the numbers as well.

are you sure of the model number? If it is a cooler and not a freezer: Frosting of the coil=air leaks around the door, temp set too low, improper Freon level, extreme high humidity area, door not closing all the way is a good starting point for trouble shooting.

probably not. you would need to change the expansion device. You could probably get as low as 15-20 degrees but I doubt you could do much more than that without some system changes.
