There are two ways to unlock your phone.

1.) If you don't have time or mobile service shop is far away from your location,You can unlock your phone thru paid service,just go on this link and specify the following : GO HERE

It could be a connection problem. Try this steps:
1) Turn off your Ericsson, then turn over the unit. Slide down the battery door and pull it off the unit. Lift the battery out of its compartment and set it aside.
2) Run your fingernail along the seam where back cover meets the body of the unit to pop it out of place. Remove the back cover and set it aside.
3) Remove the two screws from the top corners of the back of the phone.
4) Turn your phone right-side up and run your fingernail along the seam where the front cover meets the body of the phone. Pop the cover out of place and set it aside.
5) Lift the keypad, located just below the screen, up from its side and place it to the side of the unit.
6) Remove the two screws on the metal plate just underneath where the keypad used to sit. Remove the metal plate and set it aside. The orange screen cable will now be visible just below the screen, connected to a port on the green circuit board.
7) Unplug the screen cable and plug it back in, making sure it is secure in the port. This should fix the connection problem with the screen. Reverse the steps for reassembly.

No need to format. Install PC suite for P1i on your PC & upgrade the software through Internet. It will replace the old operating system.

check and unscrew all sides of the mobile,there are some hidden screws attach so be carefull of doing it.

you will see the earpiece on top cover,try to clean the boad surface as well as re-align the pin of the earpiece....

I will not be very helpful but I have the same problem. I took it apart, fiddled with the ribbon flex and then it worked for a while if I squeezed it hard. Then it stopped working again, I took it apart, cleaned the ribbon flex and the sockets with alcohol but it didn't help...

call the service provider and tell this to fix the problem...they will help you,before the try switch off and switch and send it,if not call them.

Hi.
I had the same problem with my p990i. I stripped the flipped down and inspected the microswitch which gets activated when the flip is closed. The mountings and actuators get worne out after prolonged use. I cleaned everything out and reseated the switch correctly. Worked fine after that. If you do not have a bit of technical experience, i don't suggest you do it yourself. The ribbon cable is very easy to break.
