Please try this to find a solution to your problem. Go to Messaging window and select More. Select Settings and SMS account subsequently. Make sure that the 'Connection Type' is 'GSM preferred'. And in the 'SMS Service Center Address' check with your operator Customer Care and make sure the same number is entered. You could tell the Customer Care of your problem and that you wish to verify if your using the correct service center address.

I have found a special HowTo for you at the eHow website. It says the problem is most likely due to a connection problem. You have to open the device and reconnect the screen connector. Sony Ericsson has no support files on this model anymore. Perhaps is it time for it to be replaced?

Hold on the rest for 10 seconds.This will restore the settings to factory defaults but you will loose all your data and this the only solution.

USB ports supply very low voltage and may possibly go bad on the PC itself. Does the unit charge on a typical wall outlet plug? If not, then the DC jack on the phone itself is bad. Repairing this may be more costly that just buying a new phone.
