its perhaps trying to open the water valve to let water in but there's a problem with the valve its not letting the water in if you have an electric test meter then take the top off the machine and test across the water valve terminals it should read 230 volts ac if it dose there is no water flow then the valve needs replacing please only attempt this if you are competent to do so even get a friend to help if he is a competent electrician eric

take it in to an appliance repair shop generally it is cheaper to junk it and get a better quality unit

Usually you have to remove the jacket from the microwave to reach the release mechanism.
