Your unit is locked in protection mode. Hold the advanced surround button and the power button to turn it back on. If it shutdown right away, then you shorted out the amp and need to take it in for repair.

The Pioneer Electronics VSX-D409 speakers can be turned off by pressing the Speaker button the top button to the right of the headphone jack. (The Dolby label is in between.) Did you get this working in the end? Was it just blown output transistors? I have one with same fault. in the service manual there is a fault reset procedure which powers the amp up to check for output faults. It switches back off of it detects a fault.
