How can I get my clock to chime the right time? It is always one hour too much.

  • First see if changing the time with the battery out changes the time without changing the cycle on the chime - I could just imagine somebody adjusting the clock for daylight savings and the clock doesn't change it's chime cycle correctly with the battery a certain way - in or out - maybe it's the opposite and you have to take the battery out and somebody didn't now you have to leave it in.
  • Check the internet for the original manual if you know the model.
  • Look for clues to setting the chime on the back? is there a separate knob - are the batteries both good?
Still not working after playing with it? Here is the mechanical way to fix it: Sounds great, but it still is chiming the wrong time after playing with it? This will fix it:
  • Set the clock for exactly at the chime - I suggest 3 o'clock chime - the hands will be wrong (2 or 4 or whatever)
  • Remove the battery(s) - I do custom imprinted clock faces and it seems to me that 3 o'clock is the easy place for me to put the hands back.
  • Take the clock apart - usually it is tiny screws on the back, or you will see 3 or 4 v shaped wires. push the v wire out of one side - they are springs that some clocks use to hold the rim instead of the screws - they are easier than they look - just pull one side and remove.
  • Gently pull up each hand off the shaft. I hope you have fingernails.
  • Replace the hands back at exactly the time that they are supposed to be (3 o'clock in my example) - you start with the hour hand and gently push on the spindle make it look level and all the way on - then the minute hand at 12 also level
    • Remember to play with the time first so you'll be happy that you put the hands exactly where the chime should start.
    • Remember to make that time be exactly on the hour with the small hand and exactly on the 12 with the big hand so the hands line up correctly.

How do I change to daylight saving time?

Once the battery is installed the clock will begin searching for a signal. For the initial setting it is recommended to stand the clock in an upright position near a window. Within five minutes the clock will either receive the WWVB signal and set itself to the exact time, or it will determine that the signal is not receivable at its current location and time of day. If a signal is not receivable it will fast-forward the hands to the 4, 8, or 12 o'clock position and search for WWVB each even numbered hour until a signal is received. If the time is manually set the clock will continue to periodically search for a signal and automatically reset the hands when the signal is received. What I would do, take the clock outside, it might not be getting a signal inside your house. http://www.manualslib.com/manual/91008/La-Crosse-Technology-Wt-3181pl.html

How do I set my lacrosse clock ws8055u

Press and hold Set (the top button on the right hand side of the clock) for 2+ seconds to enter the Programming mode. If the unit hasn't been set before "-5EST" should start flashing. Press + (the second button from the top) until the correct time zone is displayed. Press Set to save the setting and advance to the next program option. Again use the + button to set DST on or off. Press Set again to save and advance to the language choice (for the displayed day of the week). Press + to go through the choices and then press Set. Repeat the above steps to set the hour (if the clock didn't get the correct time from the WWVB radio). Note: PM will be displayed for the afternoon hours. There is no indicator for AM hours. Press Set again to save and advance to the Minute setting. Pressing Set again will bring the unit to set the Year, then advance to Month, then Date. The next press of the Set button will advance to setting the day of the week. The next items to set are the 12/24 hour time display and the units for the temperature. If you press Snooze, on the top of the clock, or do not press a button within 15 seconds, the clock will exit the Programming Mode. LaCrosse has the manual for the WS-8055U on the product page: http://lacrossetechnology.com/8055/ . The direct link to the manual is http://lacrossetechnology.com/8055/manual.pdf . Make sure to replace the 2 AA batteries and position the clock where the radio signal is strong if the clock doesn't maintain the correct time. I hope this helps. Cindy Wells

Nothing is showing on the screen of the clock after replacement of batteries and following other directions. Is unit broken and in need of replacemnt?

Double check that the cell is in the proper way. Sometimes it is put in upside down. (we've all done this). Secondly there may be a + mark next to a contact, on some models it is necessary to short out the mechanism to the cell to activate the watch. You can use a couple of straight pins, place one on the + contact on the movement and the other to the top of the battery that is facing up and touch the 2 needles together. Like I said on some models that is done to start the watch. It may even instruct you to do so on the back cover. good luck hope this helps. gabe.

Batteries for clock

They could have been a bad batch of batteries. Sometimes batteries aren't fully charged as they should. Try another batch. If the same thing happens go back to the store and request either a replacement or a refund since the clock should have a 2 year warranty

TX58UN-IT transmit icon is on, does not measure rain.

I had this problem and after 7 days I've heard nothing back from LaCrosse. Problem appears to be a non-functioning magnetic reed switch inside the circuitry housing. It's easy to remove the cover with a tiny phillips screwdriver (mind the small and delicate gasket/o-ring). Then the circuit board is held in with two more tiny philips screws at the bottom of the housing. Removing and replacing the switch will require a low-wattage soldering pencil. I used a Standex-Meder part number ORD228VL-1015 from Digi-Key. Only a couple $, cheap, fast shipping. It appears to be an EXACT replacement.

Sensor doesn't work

Mine stopped working about 2 weeks ago (May 2018) after about 8 years of service. I had tried the recommended procedure to depress the reset button on the sensor, but it still would not reset / reboot the temperature sensor. I suspect the non removable batteries to be the issue failure so I am about to crack the case open to try to troubleshoot the issue for confirmation.

My outside temperature and humidity sensor appears

The WS-7395U uses the La Crosse TX8U outdoor temperature and humidity sensor. That part has a $49.99 MSRP. It is $46.95 from La Crosse; see http://www.lacrossetechnology.com/tx8/index.php to order the part. Other vendors that I checked do not have the sensor in stock for sale separately. I hope this helps. Cindy Wells

Rain gauge not working

Replace the glass reed switch on the circuit board as it is bad. You must be very careful to orient the replacement switch so that it closes only when the rocker arm is at the vertical position. This will take some work to get right. Use a volt ohm meter and set the Plus lead at the reed switch lead at the top of the board. The meter should show a closed circuit only when the rocker is at the top. Good luck.

Hi Susuan,One of these methods below should get your device working properly. Good luck!LaCorosse Tech Support email address. The product information pageFrom the manual:915MHz RECEPTION CHECK FOR OUTDOOR TEMPERATURE SENSORThe atomic clock will receive the temperature data within 3 minutes. If the temperature data is not being received 3 minutes after setting up (the display shows "- - -"), then please check the following points:1. The distance of the atomic clock or outdoor temperature sensor should be at least 6 feet (2meters) away from any interfering sources such as computer monitors or TV sets.2. Avoid placing the receiver onto or in the immediate proximity of metal window frames.3. Using other electrical products such as headphones or speakers operating on the same signal frequency (915MHz) may prevent correct signal transmission and reception.4. Neighbors using electrical devices operating on the 915MHz signal frequency can also cause interference.Note:When the 915 MHz signal is received correctly, do not re-open the battery cover of either the outdoor temperature sensor or atomic clock, as the batteries may spring free from the contacts and force a false reset. Should this happen accidentally then reset all units (see Setting up above) otherwise transmission problems may occur. The maximum transmission range is 330 feet (100 meters) from the outdoor temperature sensor to the atomic clock (in open space). However, this depends on the surrounding environment and interference levels. If no reception is possible despite the observation of these factors, all system units have to be reset (see Setting up).
