Jandy Heating & Cooling - Recent Questions, Troubleshooting & Support
I have a Jandy Milavolt.
You're probably right about the thermocouple, though the size of the pilot flame is also influential, as it generates the electricity to keep the valve open. So you have two options, first I'd try increasing the size of the pilot (there's typically an allen hole for that on the gas valve). If that fails replace the thermocouple. Remove the pilot apparatus, then yank on the thermocouple until it comes out (or bash the top of it), I haven't yet seen one with a locking device. the new thermocouple will slip in right in the same place as the old one. Be sure that the pilot flame will engulf as much of the thermocouple as it can. The new one will also plug in the same way at the gas valve.
One thing to be careful of when removing the apparatus is the pilot gas supply, it's a stiff tube, it will bend but be careful, it will also break if you bend it too far. Best of luck to you.
This is an LJ175.

Just to verify, is that a Jandy gas heater? If yes:
Twist the wing nuts off the panel that houses the filter and remove the panel. Pull the filter down and to the right to remove it, then clear any blockages in the area that houses the filter. Adjust the pressure switch, install the filter back into its housing and screw the panel back into place. Contact qualified service personnel to replace the pressure switch if adjusting the switch does not solve the problem.
Thank you and good luck!
Jump gas valve wire and
Hi, if you are able to jump across the gas valve coil and the valves stays open and heater keeps working, the main coil that you are by passing is faulty. This is all that it could be as this is how we test parts and switches is by jumping them out. This will tell you that the switch is bad, in your case the coil is bad. I wouldn't leave it jumped out it is dangerous, it needs to be replaced, the gas valve.
