I have a problem with an Alinco-135 UK blowing inline fuses when I connect to a battery.fuses
10meter radio transcievers
Alinco DR-135UK 25.000-29.90 MHz (programmable) - needs ALINCO ERW-10.Ham radio?
0-25 Watt USB/LSB (variable)
not transmitting it blows fuse. right>?
bad caps inside shorted too cause
or bad DC power regulator )
assumes using right sized fuse. answers.
it does need service,
if blows only TX mode, antenna good.
the fuse needs more amps to TX 25times more
12amp min, 15amp fuse or 20.
one model said 15amp fuse. DR135, books on UK version not easy to find ask maker , they have vast manuals I see

Charger battery
What is the actual question? You can get replacement battery chargers from ICOM parts depot, look them up at www.icom.com, or get a universal charger from a local Amateur Radio dealer.

ICOM IC-A23 CL-ERR Problem
My neighbor just had this problem so I delved into it and fixed it.
You will need another working radio and the cloning cable.
DO NOT GO BUY ONE FOR 23 BUCKS PLUS SHIPPING!!!!!!!
This cable is nothing more than the same one you use to pipe your MP3 player into a car's AUX input.
You either have one or know someone who does that you can borrow.
If not go buy one from Sears ,Best Buy or any decent truck stop should have them for about ten bucks.
Turn both radios off.
Now with the 3.5 mm cable plugged in to both radios hold down the up and down arrow buttons and turn them on.
They should say "clone".
Now press the" ENT" on the good radio,
This will send the data over to the "bad" radio.
Now turn them both off, remove the cloning cable and turn them back on.
Both should be working now.
\WARNING if your battery is in bad shape it can cause the problem to come back. Either deep six the battery or hit the battery for a few seconds with your car battery charger to shock the cells.
Some times this can extend the battery's life.
Good luck!!

Memory program ch no# on icom u or h16
I had the same problem. I solved it by going into program mode, then while holding down the function key, input one of the missing channel numbers. The channel should appear but is flashing. Now input a frequency for the channel and exit program mode. Repeat the sequence for the other missing channels. This procedure worked for me. Good luck.

Dear sir
I HAVE VHF MARINE
This is a front end issue that has to be remedied by a radio tech or the factory. The front end is the receiver and it takes special tools and equipment to test and calibrate it correctly,, The only thing you can do is check the ICOM page to see where it can be serviced.

My VHF Marine Radio transmits
I don't have much experience of radio transceivers but I do have a couple of ideas.
The big question is how do you know your radio transmits 30 miles but receives only 6 miles?
Clearly you have a friend with a transceiver and you have been playing around together until you formed those conclusions.
What if the other radio received well but didn't transmit so well? Have both radios been checked with a field strength meter to ensure they are both radiating similar power outputs?
Do you receive the carrier wave but no audio at a range greater than 6 miles? If so your friend's radio (and others) might have a modulation problem. Has the signal(s) been analysed with an oscilloscope?
It is often imagined the transmission envelope is circular radiating from the antenna at the centre but that is often wrong. The radiation envelope is often distorted by a ground plane. Imagine an antenna mounted at the centre of an aluminium boat hull, the radiation envelope would be elliptical in line with the hull.
Even with a fibreglass hull the presence of metal masses can pull the radiation envelope out of shape lengthening the range of both transmission and receiving in one direction and shortening them in another.
There is another possibility to poor reception and that is a high amount of interference that might be airborne being received by the internal radio circuitry, by several means - antenna or the poor screening of the downlead and could be aggravated by poor grounding. Interference can also be on the supply line and both types can be generated by a host of electrical or electronic equipment.
Generators and motors, voltage regulators or stabilisers, local oscillators, fluorescent lighting, inverters, computers...
The basic radio of the old days could have the Squelch turned off and an experienced operator can hear much of what is or isn't happening.

First, check all your antenna leads and connections.. that's where to start first.

Icom bc-179 do not charge the battery
Charging a battery requires two components. A working charger and a functioning battery. The concept is simple. A battery charger must output more voltage than the battery does, and at an acceptable current level. First determine the battery output from the ID sticker, then measure the charger output. It must be 1 or 2 volts more than the battery output. If the charger is working, charge the battery overnight. If the battery does not charge or runs down quickly, the battery must be replaced. All batteries have a limited number of charge cycles. The most common problem with Ni-Cad batteries happens when they are re-charged before they are completely discharged. Recharging a half used Ni-Cad sets up a short term memory and the battery discharges faster than normal.
