I have had driver installation failure, reason is:
This problem happens from my experience, mostly on graphics cards. I think I would make a new folder on my desktop, name it something like abcd, and copy the installation folder to there. Do not move - copy! Then I would rename the installation folder to something shorter, like efgh. Then install from efgh. This has worked for me.

When I capture old VCR
Somehow, you have made your System Audio Output {Jack} the Primary source of the System's Audio. You are using Digital & Analog Audio at the same time. In Modern Electronics, you have to make one or the other the ONLY source of the System sound! I wish I could see your Set-Up because I know I'd spot the problem instantly. Your solution is most likely reading Your User's Guide very carefully, and finding the Switch Setting that is designed to make it work properly. This should not be happening -- most likely you just have a Function Set incorrectly.

Can not change One Touch Video Capture from AVI to DVD
You can simply convert the avi to whatever you want with avidemux which is available on the internet for free. The presets work for most people but as you become expert you can adjust many settings. The conversion takes a few minutes for most.

VC500 - windows 7 - video shows up fine until
The main power supply regulator section circuit fault. Either it will be a separate board, or the part of main board. Check and replace damaged component/s at its main power regulator [SMPS] section circuit. Contact any service technician. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Pull up older posts.
http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/
It will be best to replace the power supply regulator board as card basis rather than making "Surgery" to it; which usually will make loss for both money and time. Even though you can make it right, it will cost around an amount equal to the cost of a new board; including the cost of (spare parts + service charge) More to say, most of the spare parts to it will be difficult to get from open electronic spare part market. This is true to most of the flat panel TV power supply boards; irrespective of its brand and screen size.

Not capturing all the video
Video capture is cpu intensive and you do not want the computer to be distracted in any way during the process lest you incur errors.

No Auto Stop on EZ Grab when VHS is done playing
hi, as long as you don't have a professional VHS player/recorder with a serial control, and a dedicaded software to control it, it is impossible for your soft to know that VHS as finished, you don't have the problem with a firewire input, as the control passes by the FW cable in the two directions, but you can solve that (easy way) by setting up the capture time to approach the real timing !
for the MP4 format, the easy graber doesn't capture in this format without the use of the CPU, because it doesn't have hardware encoding, so that's why you can't reach good quality by capturing directly on MP4, you would need a card like hauppage game capture to have full MP4 (H264) hardware encoding with really good quality, and without any CPU use !

My com says the device is in use. how do i fix?
hi,
did you do the step by step install of the drivers ? some OS may detect it as standart video capture device, and won't assign the right pins for capture, so, never use the "detected" driver, always install the ones on the CD, or go to the brand web site to download the latest ones.
then start by installing before pluging it, it will ask you later to plug it (or not), i would also try to plug it in another usb port after install to be sure it loads the good driver...
hope it will help you...

VC500 - Arc Soft Biz capturing problems
Using old tapes is the wrong way to go. Eventhough there is an rease head in the VCR, there will always be some residual information left behind that affects the new recording. Older tape also has a tendency to flake off and plug a video head. A tape with a wrinkled edge will confuse the recorder speed sensor and try to change speeds too.
