Have a Cub Cadet 1320 with a 38" deck. Recent purchase. The first belt lasted a couple of hours and the second not much longer. Gets really hot and melts away. I put another new one on and within 10 minutes it starts to smell. Seems the drive belt rubs together at the idler pulley when engaged. The belt keeper on the idler pulley is rubbing against the belt on the way around seems to be the problem How can I adjust this diferently? Gale

With your exact model and serial number, you can go to their website and view the manual for your model which should have the type of oil you need. Check the bypass for the transmission, make sure it is in all the way, if it is, check the belt from the engine to the transmission, make sure the belt tension spring is riding on the belt and that the belt is tight.

If its an electric PTO then the switch on the dash is bad, Its a lever type ungagement then the little break shoes that rub on the blade spindles are either worn out or mis adjusted.If it started when you changed the blade drive belt its possibly the wrong belt??
