What type and size memory card are you trying to use? The S5z works with SD cards, 2GB or smaller. It will not work with higher-capacity SDHC cards.

SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.

The A10 accepts SD cards, which max out at 2Gb. The 4Gb card is actually an SDHC (Secure Digital High Capacity) card, not an SD card, and thus will not work in devices designed for SD cards. Compatibility goes only one way--SD cards will work in SDHC devices but not the other way around.

The maximum supported size is most likely 2GB SD Card. Cards with 4GB and more are following a new (incompatible) standard called SDHC (SD High Capacity), SDHC cards work only in devices specifically supporting SDHC. The Optio S5N uses the old SD standard where 2GB are the maximum size.

The 4gb cards are called SDHC(secure digital high capacity), check the packaging for the sdhc logo, if it just says sd your max size is 2gb.

Have you tried sliding the little switch on the card out of the "lock" position?

They have not had a good reputation for reliability here, you might want to do a search on SanDisk. The consenses on SD cards seems to be Panasonc, SimpleTech & Lexar (32x best), in that order. Some (Pixy) have had good luck with th Ultra II, but several others have had SanDisks of all kinds fail.

You can now get up to 2.0 Gigs (that's 2048MB) of storage on a MiniSD card and all you would need is a SD Adaptor.
