Yes, I found out what it was. the driver was bad. I guess these radios are very sensitive to static electricity like carpet shock. It will take the driver out. You can get it from RF Unlimited.

  • 1990 was still a front mic. Even the side mic cobra LTD from 1988 and before are the same exact wiring set up except the mic input is on the side.

One of my Cobra Microtalk radios is stuck on RX. Everything else seems to work. What could be the problem?
Hi!

Almost always, the problem here is that the micro switch for the Push-to-Talk (PTT) button has failed. Your radio should have a warranty, but even if the warranty has run out, it isn't horribly spendy to fix. I'd get in touch with Cobra Electronics, I have heard they're extremely helpful. I have a cobra 29 ltd wx classic made in 1995 and noticed it has a broke resistor. On the circuit board its located in D11. I just need to know what kind of resistor that is so I can replace it?

HI if this is a bike with carbs then I would highly suggest rejetting them with the after market pipes, if it has injectors then I would recomend checking to see if a power commander is availible for the bike so that you can tune the fuel curve, it will help with the performance as well as your fuel problem

Cobra 29 ltd when powered up error Y can anyone help me
Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Often an error code "Y" would indicate test/diagnostic result of the antenna. A communication equipment thus equipped would test the SWR and display this error code if:
  • no antenna detected; or
  • SWR of antenna is way too high.
Although am not familiar with the version of a Cobra 29LTD with this type of display. Could you pls post back the exact model of the radio, normally there would be two (2) more letters after the LTD something like Cobra 29LTD BT.
