Hi! Welcome to www.fixya.com.
What you have to do is to change the boot sequence on boot option. Restart pc then hit f2 go to boot option and choose DVD/CD to be your first boot option then press f10 restart and it should load automatically. Check your recovery if its running on other pc. If not. call your manufacturer and get a new recovery disc.
Hope this resolution fix the problem on your computer. Thanks for contacting Fixya. Bye for now.

Windows vista recovery cd I created won't install on new hard drive

Which software did you use to create the recovery disk? Is the recovery disk a CD or DVD?

Just to recover a vista system from recovery DVDs would require at least two DVDs. Your files would be in addition to this so I would be very surprised if you have only a single disk containing both the operating system and all of your files.

A simple recovery disk would only be useful for restoring lost operating system files to a hard disk that had corrupted or deleted files. It would let you restore to a new blank disk.

If the disk only contains a backup of your data then you would need to first install an operating system (Vista or Windows 7) and then install the backup software you used to create the disk and then you could recover your data from the disk.

Disk read error

it is entirely possible that the boot sector is damaged. if this is the case you need to boot with the cd that came with the machine, or a recovery cd you've made, and load the recovery environment. once their load the command prompt. it should just be a button in vista or 7 and it will automatically load in xp. once loaded type "chkdsk c: /r" no quotes. let it run, this will check for bad sectors and should fix the issue. try and reboot, and let me know what happens. if you don't have the recovery cd's or installation media you can download msdart, which has the recovery console built in. i went ahead and uploaded msdart, download the version you think you need. https://rapidshare.com/files/2296685117/ERD50_x86_WinXP_SP3_blueforce.ziphttps://rapidshare.com/files/2914560443/ERD60_x64_WinVista_SP2_blueforce.zip https://rapidshare.com/files/267688033/ERD60_x86_WinVista_SP2_blueforce.ziphttps://rapidshare.com/files/1400985026/ERD65_x64_Win7_RTM_blueforce.ziphttps://rapidshare.com/files/3314839442/ERD65_x86_Win7_RTM_blueforce.zip

I have an hp dv9925nr laptop running vista home premium 64. I tried to reset to factory settings and now when I try to start up I get a boot manager error. It says \boot\bcd status 0xc000000f error...

Most of the boot up of problem because of hardware problem, registry missing or crashed, file deleted or changed.
You can boot up your Windows with Tenorshare Data Recovery WinPE.It allows users to burn ISO file to CD/DVD/USB flash drive directly.
Step 1: Download Tenorshare Data Recovery WinPE in any available computer (not from PC that can't boot up). Then launch it.
Step 2: Insert CD/DVD/USB flash drive to the computer, choose ISO image file. Here we take USB flash drive for example. Then burn ISO file into flash drive.
Step 3: Insert the burned flash drive to the unbootable PC. Run computer and press "F2", "F10" or "Delete" to enter BIOS setup.
Step 4: Use the arrow keys to select Boot tab, select Boot Device Priority and press Enter. Please choose 1st Boot Device to USB, and then press F10 to save setting. Now,you can boot up your PC.
If you have a backup for your Windows then perform a system restore to fix it.If not, reinstall it.If you have no backups for all your data, you can use Tenorshare to retrieve data under any boot up problem. You can get it from http://www.any-data-recovery.com/product/datarecoverywinpe.htm

The HDD of my Acer Aspire 5102WLMi got broken. I bought a new one, partitoned it, load the D: drive with Acer stuff from backup, mounted it in the laptop and started this with the recovery CD. This...

@hellepie

The HDD interface on this machine is a PATA so BIOS shows the correct interface as IDE 0. Upon loading up the recovery disc (I'm assuming it's a good condition genuine Acer recovery media), what it does is that it re-images the HDD to the default file system and automatically occupies the full partition of the HDD so if you have already re-partition it, the problem might lie right there. Try to do the following:

1. Erase all partition on the new HDD that you have purchased and format it with NTFS and try to load the Acer recovery discs again.
2. If that won't work, try to use a retail copy of Windows and check if it fully install Windows. If it does, try to create a duplicate copy of your Acer recovery discs, it might just be faulty and try again.

Good Luck.

My son's Laptop won't start up ... says it has a boot error....alt ctl delete to restart....over and over again. If I hit esc and try recovery it says files are missing. what to do with this? It...

The first thing to do is extract your data. Recovery means TOTAL RELOAD. The disks for recovery were to be generated when the unit first went into service (rescue, recovery disks). If you did not make those, the files should be on the D:\ drive. BUT Recover all data before you do anything.

How to fix this error "BOOTMGR IS MISSING". Every-time I reboot my laptop, it always say to press CTR ALT DLT to restart. I did that, and seems to me that this error is keep coming...

Try this:
1. First you need Vista Recovery Disk .iso file. Can be downloaded here: [redacted]
2. Then you probably need image burning program. I prefer CD Burner XP >http://cdburnerxp.se/download.php
3. When you have installed CD Burner XP, start program, choose "Burn ISO image" and browse to Vista Recovery Disk.iso file.
4. When program has finished to burn ISO image, put CD into PC with "boot mgr is missing" problem.
5. Re-start PC, press F2 2-3 times, go into BIOS Setup Utility, choose Boot, move CD/DVD unit up to the first line with F6. Press F10 , choose YES.
6. Click this link to find out what to press when PC boots from CD:http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/fixing-bootmgr-is-missing-error-while-trying-to-boot-windows-vista/

When i start my lap top is say's a a disk read error occurred press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart an it keeps bringing me back to the samething?

Remove any CD-ROM disk from the CD-ROM drive.
Disconnect all USB devices.
If your computer has a 3.5" diskette-drive, remove any media from the drive.

Restart.

Your computer is trying to read from your disk-drive,
but it has not been successful, i.e., an "Input/Output Error" (I/O error) has occurred when trying to "read" from your disk-drive.

Find a qualified technician, to see if _any_ of your files can be recovered from your disk-drive.

I have replaced the hard drive in my daughters A215-S5808. I am trying to recover from the Recovery disk and I keep getting the error mesage 03-EEEE-0000 and press ok to shut down.

The below fix may or may not work but needs to be followed closely.

1. Boot the Recovery disc or HDD image and select System Recovery Options.
2. Follow the prompts until you get to the menu and then select a command prompt.
3. Copy the \zzimages\zzimages directory for all recovery discs to a temp directory on the hard drive (c:\temp).
4. Change to the Bin directory on the first recovery disc and run "tosimagex /apply c:\temp\preinst.swm 1 c:\ /ref c:\temp\preinst*.swm" without the quotes.

That is it. It will take a long time to copy the files since they are large and a long time to run the image program, half an hour on my computer. Also, based on Imagex syntax, it looks like the "1" in the command above might be replaced with another number for models that come with more then one Windows version on the same recovery media.
