What looks like a clear plastic wishbone clip fell out and the DC18 will no longer remain upright. The plastic part is broke. It is called Dyson DC18 Pedal Plunger 911099-01. I purchased a new one, took the spring off the broken one and figured I would put it back in a snap. NO WAY. Do you have a drawing how that puppy goes back in?? Thanks, Pete

Dyson dc 18 slim product breakdown

Your question could be asking several things:
A copy of the manual can be found here at Sears (
http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/user-manuals/DC18-dyson-inc-parts-UPRIGHT+VAC-manual ) if you are just looking for something that points to different parts of the vacuum and says what is where. A better copy is here (
Dyson DC18 Setup Guide ) (Trying to avoid places where you have to add some downloader bloatware to view the pdf).

If you're saying that the product is broken down, you'll need to be more specific. The manual covers general clearing of clogs and emptying. The most common aggravating situation I've seen in there for Dyson is that the upright units pretty much all shut off the brush head and suction when the vacuum is in the full upright position. This is the 'use the accessory tube' position where the suction is channeled up the handle. If you don't know that, and that there is either a button or hand-switch (For the DC18, a switch next to the main power button) that turns the brush on and off), then you can have lots of mystery working/not working behavior depending on whether the system is upright and whether the brush clutch is engaged.

    Good Luck!

My DC18 is blowing air from the clear bottom cylinder

Hi Angela, it's Jack at Dyson.

Please be assured it's normal for air to come out of the machine underneath the clear bin. This is where HEPA filtered exhaust air is returned to the room after passing through the machine.

I hope this helps, but if you'd like any further guidance or advice you're welcome to contact our experts directly. You can reach us by calling 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US) or 1-877-397-6622 (CA).

My DC18 Allergy is blowing out dust from the rim of the first clear plastic cylinder under the removeable emptying compartment

Hi Angela, it's Jack at Dyson.

This sounds very unusual - by the time the airflow exits the machine it has passed through the Root Cyclone assembly, pre-filter and HEPA post-filter. It would be worth checking the black rubber bin base seal from the clear bin that sits directly above the HEPA post-filter, just to make sure this isn't missing or damaged.

If you need some help you're welcome to contact our experts directly. You can reach us by calling 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US) or 1-877-397-6622 (CA).

Cannot reconect hose at base dyson dc8

Hi Joei, it's Jack at Dyson.

DC18's hose should clip back onto the machine without difficulty. It just pushes into place, and you should hear and feel a click as it locks securely. You might find the tips in our Support guide useful: http://www.dyson.com/support/dc18/dc18-allfloors/diagnosis-root-menu/dc18tilterwashvid/flo-dc18-gen-wand-suction/flo-dc18-gen-wand-suction-main/flo-dc18-gen-remove-the-wand-from-hose/redirect-to-flo-dc18-gen-check-the-hose/flo-dc18-gen-check-the-hose

If you'd like further guidance on reattaching it, please give the Dyson customer Helpline a call on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA), or 1800 239 766 (AU).

How to open the dust bin on a dyson DC18

    Dear Sherry,

The DC18's clear bin is designed to empty from the base when you press the red release button. For further information, please see the user guide supplied with the cleaner - if you don't have this to hand, you can download a copy here:

How do you get the clear plastic housing off to replace Hepa Filter on a Dyson DC 18 ?

Don't take the clear plastic housing off. The lower hepa filter is not meant to be cleaned, only the top filter needs to be cleaned, every three months. I just talked to the Dyson rep about the same issue.
