My drive has never worked since my grandmother first got it, and she didn't take it back because she thought it was her computer (win XP) so she said since it wasn't working for her I could have it. I tried it on my computer and the blue light didn't even come on (it didn't come on for my grandmother's computer). My computer runs windows 7 32 bit. I thought it would probably be a common problem, but i was surprised to find no answers to my question, only when the blue light flashes, so I haven't tried anything to fix it.My only lead to why it may not work is that I found an article on a similar (but not the same) model that mentioned firewire. Do I need firewire? Both my computer and my grandmother's have usb 2.0 but neither of our computers have a firewire bus.

Normally windows autodects drives. Are you sure that you have all pieces to it. Ususally the part is powered by the USB port. But it depends on the manufacturer some have power supplies that have to be plugged in. If your unit is powered by a power supply it should light up.

One of the ends will small and the other will have a USB plug. It could be you have a bad wire. Try taking the wire to a computer shop or store and see if you can get a replacement.

Plustek Optipro 9636T - working under Windows 7.

If you scanner only has Win XP drivers, then you have only two choices as those drivers wont work on WIN 7. One is to buy a new scanner, as you have already suggested. The other is to create a virtual machine, load WIN XP onto it, and then install the scanner drivers on the virtual machine. This should work fine as I do it for a piece of software that only works on WIN XP, however it is a bit of a inconvenience to use.

BOOTMGR is missing

This may be due to the reason that your Compaq model is only Vista or Win7 Compatible.I didn't get your question properly but as you're having no windows or DOS in your machine. All you need is a Bootable Windows Disc and a working DVD rom to get this done.Cause commands or anything else will require that and even if you fix it with some tricks. Some Other file missing message may appear. But if you just want to push yourself. Normally are Booting files are in the root folder in my case it's in C:\ like NTLDR BOOT.ini BootSect.dos so try to access your root drive.

I just bought a Sony NWZ E354 mp3 player. When plugged into my usb front main port, computer sees it as MTP device but disables it. I' running Win XP Pro and WMP 11. Take same player and its...

I upgraded my usb drivers -- I have windows xp pro -- i think they use all the same -- I used Realtek USB 2.0 card reader drivers. ( http://bit.ly/qeofyZ ) plugged it in (NOT in the front, but the back)_ & it recognized it after going to start, computer as "walkman" -- did a right click explore & all the data/music was still on the hard drive. then it showed on the walkman that it was charging & the battery was dead. i was previously using an AC usb adapter (plug in the wall) & it didn't seem to be charging it correctly -- so the computer works out for me & will only use that from now on -- fully operational.

I downgraded from vista to xp and now i need a sound driver compatible for my gateway:w34oui

This is another tough one.
Since GW does not have Win XP drivers available for your system, it will be difficult to find a sound driver that will work. You could try to use the Vista driver, but I would be skeptical that it will work to use that driver because of the way that sounds are processed in Vista/Win 7.
You didn't mention why you did the downgrade, but if it was performance related, Win 7 should work fine with your system. If there was a certain program etc., that you need, there is another option.
There are many USB soundcards that will will work well with Win XP, and they should not have the XP problem since their hardware is designed to work with XP. Note: If you go this route, make sure you choose one that is Win XP compatible. One other thing on this option, though. Your internal speakers may not route sound through the USB soundcard, which would mean then that you would need external speakers to get sound. I understand that may be a deal-breaker, which is why I would (unless you specifically need XP) either go back to Vista or upgrade to Win 7. Some version of Win 7 feature "XP mode" which allows you to run programs in a virtual Win XP environment. I have not had perfect luck getting XP programs to work, but it's worth a try.

Cannot connect Samsung c3050 using Data cable USB APC10 to win 7

Well your hardware was working on windows Xp and it seems they didn't issue a driver for Vista or win 7.
You can try to e-mail APC directly for support. Furthemore they stopp the support for the encryption software Omnipass, you will have to see directly with Softex for the software's support.

If APC can give you a Vista driver, it might work, but otherwise you can try to run your APC installation CD on Windows XP compatibility mode see here for the details.

If none of the above works, well your hardware is now obsolete on win 7.

Hope this helps
