I put the timer on my lamp and it stays on even if it's not the time that I set, and then it turns off when the time is up... Why does it stay on? And not go according to the timer?

For digital timer:
1) Timer is defective
2) Conflicting programming so timer does not perform as expected
3) Timer not set to correct mode.
4) Program 'off' is set correctly, but program 'on' is not set or 'on' time conflicts with other programming.
5) Current time not set correctly
6) Polarity on outlet is reversed or noise on the line. Check outlet with circuit analyzer.
7) Combination of factors listed above

Samsung HLN5065W replaced the lamp. Tv wont stay on.

When your TV turns off without any reason, there are a number of possible causes. The problem could be a loose connection, a sleep timer that's been activated accidentally, or even a buildup of dust on the circuit board that causes overheating.

To help you better determine what the problem and solution might be, follow the simple troubleshooting steps in the article TV turns off. I hope this helps!

I can't reset the lamp timer

l have a suggestion---that is worth trying---with compressed air dust the entire inside of the unit out--dust on fans or blocking air flow can cause this.

Other than that the set is not allowing the lamp to stay on (look to see if it even comes on for a few seconds or not).

Turn set on picture is dark.. if I leave the TV on.. in several hours it's viewable.

I have seen several Samsung's including 3 that were only a few months old at the time where it was the lamp---one was so dim it was very hard to even see the picture or that the screen was lit.

Two suggestions here: One of course would be to buy and gamble and replace the lamp.

What I found in two of the three cases was when I removed the lamp the glass pillar inside it was "bent" at a angle from heat or a natural defect--in both those cases a new lamp cured this dim picture issue.

Set will monitor the lamp and if too dim may shut set off or even blink for a prolonged period of time.

If the lamp is over 2 years or age (average life) or was replaced with a non-Samsung lamp you are going to have to take the gamble to try another one.

Inspect the lamp---that pillar supports the filament and if bent the lamp is suspect at best.

Lights come on but don't stay on even though the tabs are set for it to stay on say from 4-12 it will go off at 7:30. Someone got thier hands on this before i did---could the tabs have been broken if...

GM40 is commercial-grade electronic time piece with FM1 analog timer dial.
I bought a used GM40 once and the electronics were bad, so if this is a used timer, it might not function as expected.

I don't think the tabs/pins are broken. FM1 timer module is heavy duty.
Turning the dial clockwise does not damage timer. That's how you set current time and test timer.
Rotating dial counterclockwise is not possible without breaking the timer.

FM1 analog timer module can be replaced if timer stopped working.

If certain pins/tabs are broken, you might be able to work around problem by offsetting current time by 6 hours or 12 hours. Or you can move wires from NO to NC terminals and see if the relays are causing a problem.

To set FM1 timer, the pins are pushed outward or inward.
For example to turn on Load for 1 hour, then 4 consecutive pins are moved.
To turn on Load for 3 hours, then 12 consecutive pins are moved.
To test if pins need to be inward or outward, set some pins and then manually rotate timer dial clockwise and watch when the Load turns on-off.

HOW DO I SET THE WOODS INDOOR TIMER? I WANT TO USE IT TO TURN A LAMP ON AT 7:00P.M. AND OFF AT 6:00A.M. ALSO, DOES IT STAY IN THE TIMER ON POSITION ALL THE TIME? THANK YOU.

with a timer like that , start here. Unplg it and have it in your hand. Pull up all the tabs. Push down the tabs from 7pm-6am. Now, find in the center ot the unit, the little arrow, turn till the correct time, the the right now is at the arrow. Plug in right away. As for the timer switch, timer on will work just as timer, push to outlet on will turn the lamp on manually. Also keep in mind that if the power goes you will have to realign the arrow with the actual time.

I have a First Alert model 610 timer. It is an older model and I need the instructions for it.

I called First Alert @ (800) 323-9005 and they faxed me the instructions for Model LS510 which is the same and got it working. They will mail it too but not email. Choose Fixed or Random mode. Choose how many hours it will stay on after dusk. Turn your lamp off and unplug the lamp. Plug lamp into timer. Put function in Fixed or Random position. Put hours on switch to number of hours you want it remain on after dusk. Plug timer into the wall outlet. Turn the lamp's switch on and Timer's LED light should be on and the lamp should be off. Turn the lamp's switch off then on again TWICE. The second time you turn the lamp's switch on the bulb in the lamp will flach on then off quickly. This indicates that the Timer is controlling the lamp's operation. Leave the lamp switch in the ON position. The timer is now set for automatic. I hope this helps.

I turn the tv on it stay on for one second then it goes off thats when the lamp button comes on its red. then the red light comes on and it stays on although the tv is off the red lamp light is still on

Your lamp timer may be maxed out which means you should change the lamp and reset the lamp timer. When the timer max's out it won't turn on till it is reset.

TV WILL NOT TURN OFF

Greeting inmiltown,

It sounds like your approaching the end of your lamp's life. Most projection televisions have internal lamp timers. These lamp timers usually give you time to buy a new bulb before it needs to be replaced.

I hope this helps.
