When I try to use the steamer it starts steaming and then the message comes on to ventilate and just hot water starts coming out of the spout. There is also a burning smell when I do this. The coffee brewer is working ok.

Please let me know if you have any details on the cost of a replacement pump. Also, will need instructions on how to do this.

Did you load the circuit prior to starting as detailed in the manual?

How long have you had this machine for and do you descale on a regular basis?

If you've been running it without loading the circuit then chances are that the pump is on its way out. Page 26 of the manual is the Note and instructions about loading the circuit. I'd say try this and see how it goes and I'll look for details and costs on a replacement pump. Do you think you'd be able to replace the pump yourself?

  • Anonymous Jun 27, 2011

I've attached a link below for the exploded diagram but you should get details with the pump how to swap it out.

What country are you in (for the Pump Voltage) and I'll get some suppliers and prices for you.

Here's one option. I'll have a look for some others tonight when I get home if you want me too then just let me know. - http://www.shop.partsguru.com/187720958-...

Trey -
It sounds as if the water pump has gone bad. If the machine will not put water out of the hot water spout or the steam spout, and there is no water in the base of the machine (leaking from pump) then the pump is not putting out any pressure. The sound you hear is the pump running - but no pressure behind it.

Gaggia Syncrony "ventilate"

You need to push the hot water button on the machine panel to allow water to run out of the steam wand. After a few seconds the machines ventilate message should clear.

Keep getting ventilate message - won't ventilate and cannot operate steam or grinder w/ ventilate message

Try this run the hot water cycle for a few seconds, it that works, try steaming if you get the message again clear it by running the hot water cycle and then go to steaming, this time push in on the knob after you open it, it that works, then the tap rod or the valve assembly needs to be replaced.

Ventilate message, then no steam coming out

Sounds like you have an internal blockage in one of the boilers.
Take it to your local service agent for repair.
Did you remove the milk frother and try the hot water again?
A blocked frother is a very common problem .

Ventilate sign on my coffee machine

When it says to ventilate, it is asking you to prime the pump. Put acup under the panarello wand ( the steamer/frother) to catch thedischarged water and press the hot water button (upper left button onmy machine). Wait until air stops coming out with the water, usually3-5 ounces, and then press the hot water button again.

You machine is now ventilated (primed) and should be ready to go.

Ventilate

I fixed my ventilate problem! After 2 days of utter frustration and pushing many buttons, I read another guest comment about resetting to factory settings. Push the up button under the small coffee icon. It should say factory setting with the asterick next to it. Push OK. Then push "yes" for factory settings. Then my machine started working again! Hallelujah! It erased my personal coffee cup setting, but who cares.

Big thanks to the person who posted their solution on Dec. 2007.
