If this is the case your XXL has an incompatible bootloader and requires updating. This will be the case even if you updated it via tomtom HOME. Back up your map, voices and zip then reformat and reinstall navcore
there are a couple of settings in preferences. One is "Fastest Route" which is highways the other is "shortest Route" which can be back streets. Change the default to either "Fastest" or, preferably, there is an option to get it to ask you each time
Go to your preferences menu and scroll down a few pages until you see the clock icon. Click on that and you can set how your time is displayed.The unit actually gets the time from the signals it recieves and is probably the most accurate time piece you can get your hands on.
