Toshiba Regza 46RV525U 46 in. LCD HDTV Logo

Absolutely no power on my Toshiba flatscreen lcd led tv. In a lighting storm we unplugged all of the appliances. This tv still was damaged because it was connected to the cable box via a hdmi cable. Not a single light comes on, fuses are good with no bulging capacitors. Dont know where to put probes from multimeter on power supply to test. Help!

If the HDMI cable was the only connection, then the high voltage pulse would have had to go through one or more of the video wires in the cable, through the video board, and back out the HDMI cable shielding. What troubles me is you should see the unit come up to standby and refuse to power on. That suggests there was something else connected besides the HDMI cable or the base made a decent ground. At least the panel is worth $150 or so (it is highly unlikely it was damaged).

What your describing is symptoms of a power surge, Many LCD Tv's are sensative to Slight fluctuation in power during rain, thunder and lightning storms, i myself was happily watching Tv through such a storm at one time, and when i went to bed the TV would not respond remotely or manually, i also disconnected the power from the wall waited for the ready light to disolve and try to turn on, unfortunatley the damage was done, a Tv Repair was nessecary and since then i now use a belkin power surge protector board for my TV and appliances......one question to you is i would guarantee you do not use a surge protection my friend......and your set will need a Tv Repair, it is not major as what is neccesary is a firmware dump on the internal memory and replace the BIOS Battery as well.

Have if you can a look at the power supply board for signs of damaged parts and do not over look the filter caps there---see typical bad ones from mild to extreme:

HELP! I think my TV got zapped and is ruined from storm!

Check whether the power outlet has power. If it has, I suggest please do not attempt to switch on the TV, unless checked by a qualified service technician.

I have a 2008 Toshiba tv 40RV525U model. We had a thunder/lightening storm. The power to the whole house did a on/off/on flicker. Now my tv only has a flashing power light (green). Does this mean my tv is...

The power source of the tv has been fried by the power surge and it must be replaced, the damage is surely to great to fix it. Pray to all your gods that the damage is limited only to the power source, otherwise the tv is truly dead.
Call a tv repairman, there's nothing more you can do.
And next time when you have a storm unplug everything with electronics in the house, from every wire.

I have the sanyo dp46848 it 3 months past warranty , we had a thunderstorm ,my wife turned off the tv but we did not unplug it. when the storm was over we turned it on and all we got was a led power light...

It can be the main logic board EPROM is scrambled since the TV was plugged during the thunder storm, and /or the power supply module are damaged.
You will have to do more in-depth troubleshooting.

My JVC AV-48WP55 only blinks the green led when plugged in. This happened after a power surge, during a thunder storm.

Have you tried unplugging the tv and letting it sit for a while then plugging it back in?

also.. sometimes i have seen appliances that will flash the power light if an internal fuse has blown to indicate a problem. open it up if you feel you want to and check for a fuse around where the power cord comes in teh tv.

I have a toshiba 42HL167. Love it but recently when the power is off iget a repeating blinking yellow light. Blinks 3 times pauses blinks 3 time pauses blinks either 2 or 3 times then stops for 25 seconds...

Yes. The Yellow LED blinking 3 times is a normal boot-up, but if it keeps doing it -- it needs the firmware "update" (which is more like a reload because it got corrupted.) The problem is, no one talks about how to do that. (there is a PDF and firmware on toshiba's website, but it lacks some crucial details.)

My friend gave me his 42HL167 after this problem started after a power event during a storm and I managed to fix it by reloading the firmware.

I posted instructions on my website at:

http://www.benjammin.net/www/pages/techtips/Toshiba-Regza-42HL167.html

Once I figured out some of the facts, it was a breeze...
