Have you been able to connect your netbook to other wireless networks? Do you have anything else connected to your home wireless network? Can you see your home wireless network using a different computer?

If you can't see other wireless networks check to make sure your wireless card didn't get shut off. Usually there's an on/off switch on a laptop to do this, or a combination of function keys.

If you can see other wireless networks and just not your own, try the wireless network's settings on the router. If you do have some type of security, I'd start off troubleshooting with no security, then move up to WEP, then WPA, then WPA2 in that order, or at least as high as you can get with the options available on your router. It might be that your wireless network is too secure for what your Mini 10 can handle.

Suddenly unable to connect to wireless network

If you get a 'Limited connectivity" on you wirelessconnection on your laptop, it means that the wireless card on your laptopprobably did not get an IP address from the wireless router.
To fix this problem, right click on the wireless icon on the Task bar and thenclick Repair.
This will force the wireless router to issue a IP address to the wireless cardon the laptop.

Cant connect to my dell inspiron 8100

I think you should check the wireless settings of your router first.
If your wireless network is secured then make sure that you have the correct wireless network key WEP / WPA .
If your router is too old then it will be better to upgrade the firmware of your Linksys router.

Just had a new wireless card fitted and I am trying to connect to my router

I recently purchased a new wireless card for my desktop, it was a Linksys 54g with speedbooster but after the switch the networks I was connecting to (Free wireless from my apartments) will no longer connect. The old card that I had was just an offbrand card which used the microsoft zero connection tool to configure, this new card attemps to use the software included and ive tried to switch between the two different connection configuration tools both can detect the routers but when trying to connect it does not even get to the aquiring access key stage. the router is not passworded so I guess I was just wondering can this new card not connect to the router maybe due to brands? possibly the router is belkin or something of that sort and this linksys card cannot connect? I had before gotten it to connect at the very good 54kbps or whatever the number is but it would not let me access internet and then said limited/no connectivity. I also tried to change the settings on my wireless card and set them to 802.11b only, 54g auto, 54g LRS or Performance but all had the same result, I switched the default channel to match that of the router as well still nothing.

Hello, I got a Dell Inspiron mini 10 for christmas. and i can be on my home wireless network. then it will suddenly drop signal and i wont be on the internet any more. what's wrong with it?

hi Power off your router and wait about 45 seconds then plug in the power to the router again, restart your dell mini and see if the connect gets more stable. do you have any other wireless pc's in the house? if so do they work fine? if you dont have any other wireless pc's try to get a friend to come over with a laptop and see how their connection is to your network... that will definitely isolate if you have a router issue or a PC issue. keep in mind if you have other pcs in the house and they are hardwired into the router, they will not exhibit the connection loss that wireless pcs connected to the router will experience.

hope this helps!

Setting up and configuring networks

The main problem on your setup is your router. This BEFSR41 doesn't have wi-fi or wireless capability. You can only go online on your laptop if you connect it hardwired to the router just like your desktop. You must purchase a wireless router if you want your laptop to work wirelessly

Dell pc will not work with linksys router

HI Boston
I believe the wireless card that you have in your laptop is a dell wireless card.

Here are the instructions on how to get your wireless working
Start-All programs-dell wireless-dell wireless wlan card utility-open the window and on the uncheck let this tool manage your wireless.
Please make sure that Enable radio is checked otherwise no wireless networks will be detected by the computer.
Once that is done go to start control panel in the left hand side make sure classic view is what is there. Go to network connection and you would see wireless network connection. Right click and click on view available wireless networks.
click on refresh network list if any of the networks are not seen.
Still no go try to enable the radio of your wireless card by pressing fn+F2 and then try.

if your getting limited or connectivity right click on wireless network connection go to properties, select on the top the tab wireless networks and remove your network from the preferred networks click on ok.

now get back to view available networks and try to connect to your wireless network.

make sure if there is a security on ur network you are aware of the ntework key and its case senstiive as well. otherwise ask linksys to give it to u.

if your wireless says connected check the ip address and post it here . for finding ip address start-run-cmd-click on ok

in the command window type ipconfig and post the ip address here.

alternatively also try updating the wirless card from the site

thank you do post your results and feedbacks if any
