I have a black/grey pair of skullcandy earbuds bought at Best Buy less than a year ago. One of the earbuds doesn't work anymore. Can I ship these back for repair? What is my warranty on these? Thanks for your help with this matter.
It is likely that your right stereo channel has either been severed somehow or there is a severe short in one of the cables. What you can try to do to test this theory is first turn on your music. Then wiggle the cable at the very base of the right earbud. If nothing happens wiggle the cord right where it connects to the stereo jack. If still nothing happens run your fingers along the right earbud audio cable bending and twisting it. If at any point you hear music again then you likely have a short. If it is near the earbud then it is going to be difficult to fix since these earbudfs have a large gauard. If the short is at the stereo jack then the fix is simple. A standard 1/8" stereo jack can be purchased from any electronics or audio store. You can then fairly easily seperate teh old stereo jack and solder this new one in place. Search the internet for tutorials on how to do this if need be. Even if you do not get any kind of sound when wiggling it at the base of the jack this is the most likely culprit since this is where most of the stress on the headphones occur. Be wary though, if you do attempt a stereo jack repair you will void whatever kind of warranty your earbuds may have so check before you try. But, in teh end you may end up saving a 60-100 dollar set of earbuds for 5-8 dollars. Hope this helped.
I know that Skullcandy has a lifetime warranty on stuff like this... I know a couple people who had theirs replaced no trouble at all. After looking on their site, the link to the warranty info is www.skullcandy.com/warranty. Hope this helps!
With skullcandy they have limited lifetime warranty. which means that if the wiring goes out the will replace it. if you step on them you get 50% off. all you have to do is go to there site and fill out the warranty form. once you do that they send you a email with a warranty number and you send them back and you either get a new pair or a 50% off code! http://www.skullcandy.com/warranty-information.html check it out.
Same thing with mine just over a month old. My problem is at the jack and by wiggling I can get the music to play. Question: How do I take the jack apart?
Check the wires where they connect to the plug at the bottom... thats usually where they disconnect. if you know how to solder, i'd just solder the wires back on. If not, ask a friend that does. I'm working on a pair right now, its not too bad.
If it was the stereo jack, then would any audio come out? beacuse my left ear bud plays, but the right one doesnt. I tried unplugging then replugging it, and at first it worked. but now it doesnt
I dont have skull candy earbuds, but i had the same problem with my left earbud and i was looking for a solution on the internet and the solution i found tht worked was to **** on the earbud with the problem. Its gross but if its not working from a blockage of some sort such as earwax, it should work. works best if u can remove the squishy thing on the earbud, but i dont know if you can do that on skull candy buds.
My left side stopped working on my over the ear skull-candies, they only work when i push the jack in really tight. can i get new ones? they arent blown out!
My earbuds stop working after I plug them in my ipod but any thing else the will work fine until I put them in my iPod they work fine if you hold it the right way and the buttons and mic works fine when every but the audio is gone from the earbud
I rubbed my skullcandy with some baby oil. prayed to allah three times, and boom. out pops a genie, when i asked if the headphones could be fixed. he said stopped screwing with skullcandy and upgrade to beats by dr.dre. this solution works period.
I have to constantly press the mic 3 part to get stereo, otherwise all I get is the weaker part of the stero audio, voices/vocals are missing.
I have the same problem, i just bought them like 30 mins ago, and only the right earbud works. im sooooo mad, and its happened with my ipod touch only, the ones that came with itt didnt work, went out gott another pair, only the right one works, then went to target tonite, and got skull candy ones, same fking thinggg!!! idk whattt tooo dooo

I bought my earbuds from my coke rewards and about 6 months or so after I had them my right one has a bad connection and u have to bend the wire for it to work.

Yeah same here mine worked for a few months, but then one of them stopped working.
how do you open the earbud to get to the wire
I too have this issue. What else is weird is that the sound has switched to mono, it's all being routed to the right earbud. :\
One of my earphones wont play and sound through it, i'd only had them maybe a month, hadn't cracked them or dropped them or anything and one day the left earphone broke. You can't hear anything through it.

I have black and purple SkullCandy ear buds with a purple Mic, the right earbud works FINE, but the left earbud's KINDA BROKEN. You see, they worked fine, but then, I could BARELY hear through the left earbud! AND I'VE ONLY HAD THEM BE ABSOLUTELY FINE FOR LIKE 15 HOURS!
