Hi tandseaster,
I have owned my own business for 3 years and have been working on scooters and powerchairs for 15 years. I know exactly what the problem is. I can almost tell you what kind of scooter you have. In the future give as much info about the scooter as possible.
Your problem is the throttle pot or somtime called the engager.
You can do one of two things. 1. Open the faceplate to your tiller. look for a lock nut on the throttle pot. loosen it, on the bottom of the pot is a slot for a flat tip screwdriver. Take the key out before you start this procedure. You can turn the screw slot on the pot a little at a time, one way then the other. Turn the key back on, turn the speed pot to lowest speed so the scooter won't take off on you. Once you align the throttle pot to neutral tighten the lock nut. The easiest way to fix your problem is:
2. Replace the throttle pot.
Your problem will be fixed.

Good Luck
Tim

Drive Royale Electric Mobility/Golf Scooter.

Question edited to remove all the abbreviations, and add 'make model (what it is)'.
Question moved from Cars and Trucks to one of the Mobility Scooter categories.

Yes, switches can go bad, but first, try disconnecting the batteries overnight in the hope that the control board has just got confused and needs resetting.

My scooter is too slow, the battery charges, but it only drives at very slow speed, while going backwards it goes fast. Can you tell me what to do?

I have owned my own business for 3 years and have been working on scooters and powerchairs for 15 years. In the future give as much info about the scooter as possible.
1. Replace the throttle pot and or the speed pot.
2. Sometimes even batteries that take a charge are not strong enough to run the scooter. Have them load tested at an auto parts store to make sure. If you have bad batteries that will make you scooter do what you say it's doing. Don't forget your reverse speed is only 1/2 as fast as the forward speed on all scooters.

Good Luck

New battery. hooked up correctly. But, scooter will still barely go in reverse super slow. forward speed slow .can throttle cable be problem/ when I push inside of speed lever it moves faster. pushing ends...

Hi. Did the machine used to operate properly in the past? Sometimes previous owners or technicians have changed the programme for owners for different uses. What you describe sounds like a faulty throttle pot ( Wig Wag ). I have changed many throttle pots for this reason.
Also check battery and motor connectors.
Do you have another switch on the machine for controlling the speed, such as an indoor/outdoor switch? Good luck. Neil.

I have a milan mobility scooter, turn the key & it sounds a low

Hi. This sounds difficult. I have had a few scooters move slowly forward or in reverse, but not both. Normally if the speed pot ( wig wag ) is not exactly in the central position, they can do this.
It is possible for a scooter to have your problem, if the speed lever is binding or rubbing on the housing. Normally the lever is returned to the middle by a spring around the speed pot shaft. If this spring is loose or broken, then this could also cause the problem. Sometimes a small spot of oil or grease will help.
To check the speed lever is in the middle, slowly move the lever for forward untill you hear the brake solenoid release. Now release the lever and slowly pull it for reverse untill you hear the brake solenoid release. Make sure that the speed lever moves the same amount for forward as it does for reverse. If not adjust it with the key off.
If you get the machine to drive properly, then change the controller to see if it is OK.
As for the beeping, a lot of machines will go into an error mode if the speed lever is not in the central position when you turn the key on. This is a safety precausion.
Good luck. Neil.

I have a Go Go scooter that is an older model. It

Hi, That sounds like the speed pot is faulty,

When going along push the lever in the upwards direction as well as forward , does it speed up ? does it response ? if so then that's the problem.

There could be a issue with the metal key making a good contact when inserted.

Shoprider deluxe te-889af loses power when reversing

I think that this is usual to have a slower reverse speed for safety. But on your shoprider you should have 4mph and 8mph ,usually if you are at 8mph it won`t reverse at that speed, you have to go to 4mph ,look infront of you there is a dial this controls the speed that you go forward and reverse. If reverse speed needs to be increased turn the dial up,but don`t forget this also increases forwards.
