My dehumidifier will not shut off - Whirlpool AD70USS Dehumidifier

according to the user manual the dehumidifier will not stop running for the following 5 reasons:

• Windows or doors near dehumidifier are open to outdoors.
• Area to be dehumidified is too large.
• Air movement through dehumidifier is blocked.
• Dehumidifier has been installed or restarted recently.
• Dehumidifier is in the CONTINUOUS mode.

the float switch above the tank might be stuck. or broken

Switch it off when you go out. Find replacement float switch

As per your problem, that the dehumidifier shuts offautomatically - If yourdehumidifier froze, the compressor will shut off automatically. Allow the iceto melt before emptying the tank and restart the dehumidifier. Hope this will help you. Good Luck.

You didn't say what humidity range you have it set for, or how damp of an area it is dehumidifying. The one in my basement also never shuts off and we have it set for the lowest humidity (meaning we don't want any down there). For some reason it is overheating and shutting itself off. There is a law that all electronics are supposed to have a point to where it automatically shuts off if it gets too hot from a malfunction or loose connection in the circuit board. It is to protect the consumer. You either need to take it to a tech or get rid of it. Get a new one.
