I have taken pictures using my webcam. However, I cann't seem to find the pictures that I have taken. It seems that only a few images will appear in my pictures folder and some of the images taken before will appear in the folder. How can I get the older Images that I have taken using the Acer Crystal Eye Webcam? Thanks (:

This may be either a driver problem or a hardware failure. Try going here and re-installing the driver and software.

http://gd.panam.acer.com/home/

When you click on the link, click on "notebook" > "Aspire" > 4530 > click on the application tab and the first two downloads are camera driver-software....download and install.

SOURCE: how to take pictures in acer crystal eye webcam

There should be a program in the start/programs menu called acer crystaleye, the software to take pictures with the webcam is in there. (if you are running vista that came with the laptop).

How to take picture on webcam in windows 7

take picture with built in webcam b> Launch the "Photo Booth" application. If it's not in your dock menu options, locate it under the "Applications" folder. Once "Photo Booth" is open an image of what the webcam sees will display on the window. Move your computer webcam or monitor as necessary to capture the image you want. Click on the red button at the bottom of the window to take the picture. The "3, 2, 1" countdown displays and the picture is taken. Add effects if necessary prior to taking the picture, by clicking on the "Effects" button on the lower-right. Choose the effect you wish to use and click on the red button again. b> Take Pictures in Windows Launch the application that corresponds to your built-in webcam. If you are unsure, go to your computer manufacturer's website and download the latest driver that corresponds to your computer webcam. Install the drivers if necessary and restart your computer when the install process is completed. Once the given application is running, move your hand in front of the webcam to make sure it recognizes an image. Move your computer webcam or monitor as necessary to capture the image you want. Click on the specific button for Take Picture, Snapshot or Image Capture. Depending on your Windows operating system, the pictures will be automatically played or viewed by different applications, such as Quickplay or Windows Photo Gallery.

To locate the picture, look under the "Shared Documents" folder or go to the "Preferences" menu in the webcam's application to see where the pictures are saved. b> Taking Pictures Through Online Applications On your Web browser, enter the Web address of an online webcam-application site, such as cameroid or picanom (See links Below). http://www.cameroid.com/ http://www.picanom.com/ http://maczealots.com/tutorials/photo-booth/ No downloads will be necessary. Click on the "Snap" tab from any of these applications. A viewing area will display and an "Adobe Flash Player Settings" dialog box might appear, alerting you to "Allow" or "Deny" camera and microphone access by this site. Once allowed, a live image of what your webcam sees will display in the viewable area. Select from the list of Effects, Filters, Scenes or Frames if necessary or applicable.
Click on the "Snapshot" icon to take the picture you desire. Once the picture is taken, a menu will display for you to choose your download. Click on the "Download a JPG file" option, then confirm the action by pressing "OK." also make sure you have all software needed

Click start right click on computer select properties device manager scroll to image devices expand right click to update driver in W7 http://download.cnet.com/2000-20_4.html on the home page you should see a search tab just type in what you are looking for IE: webcam name webcam driver you might have to try a few times to get it right software if you dont have the driver you will need to download one here rather doing a driver hunt which can take hours http://download.cnet.com/slimdrivers-free/3000-18513_4-75279940.html Windows XP/Vista/7/8 It might take some time being a freeware driver solution note: it will find all of your outdated drivers this is a free driver solutions This will automatically search for and find the correct driver you will have to update every driver individually once you update you might be asked whether you want to restart or make a system restore point click no to both of these then continue updating each driver free then restart once all of the drivers have been updated Some webcams and programs require additional software, although that should be installed with the webcam if things are right. But is does not harm to check if your Java, Flash and Quicktime software are installed and up to date. But certainly check your DirectX software, since all video applications, including webcams, use DirectX for video processing. Try downloading the latest DirectX version and install it (Windows XP: DirectX 9.0c - Windows Vista: DirectX 10). http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Which-version-of-DirectX-is-on-your-computer

No picture appear on screen..and it says picture error

Try and see if you can play back old pictures that were taken on with this camera. if so the LCD is good and the suspect seems the CCD - imaging device - or the control circuit.
If there is no picture seen then the LCD is a suspect.
To check the CCD and control board it is ideal to take support from service center specially when estimate and spares are needed.

Write protect message appears on screen

Sounds as if the memory card may be corrupted. In order to remove the write protect, make sure you have downloaded and saved all of the images from the memory card to your computer and then having the card in the camera you will need to run the format option and this will permanently remove the write protect as well as all of the images from the card.
The card should be able to be used again after the write protect is removed.

Dark monitor

Since the D40X is an SLR, (single lens reflex), it is not possible to use the LCD monitor to frame your pictures before they are taken.

To view what your images look like after you have taken them, you need to use the 'monitor/play' button marked with a rectangular box
