Only MP3 and unprotected WMA files re supported. If you upload copy protected WMA files or any of the iTunes AAC formated songs, they will not play. All purchases from the iTunes store have to be converted to MP3 before they can be played on this player.

Also, some older MP3 players will not be able to play MP3 audio encoded at high bitrates.

This is true, common bitrate tho is 128 (standard/lame old) While highest quality last I knew was 320. I found high bit rate though is not always best have ruined songs and higher bitrate decreases the amount any mo3 can hold. For instant say common 2gb - 4000 songs well that is mainly dependant not on length but on bitrate being 128 increased to 192 is approx 3250 and 320 itrate is 2000. I have a Sansa c240 (bought in 2007) some songs at 320 either jitter or just wont play. but there is away to correct it fortunately. Solution is to use an audio converter you will need all format details to get 320 bitrate to play properly but that is so time consuming best just to lower the bitrate until find one that plays properly.

Synced music files won't play on phone

You don't have a codec for that particular format. Try changing the music file to a different format, like MP3.
A program like "Any Audio Convertor" should do that for you in Windows. There are many free windows apps that convert formats of music files. Or do a search for an Audio convertor on the Google play store, there are plenty of free apps. Typically music apps won't display music files they cann't play, it just saves clutter on their play list.

When I play a song on my mp3 player, the screen displays "unknown."

Mp3 players are programmed to read original & copied songs when you download music into your Mp3. if you copy an original CD (music) to your Mp3, the songs will be displayed along with all the infos of that song, i.e. artist, track #, year, etc. if you copy a CD which contains copied songs from other originals, it will display "UNKNOWN" because original CD's have their own trademarks that distinguishes them from copied CD's or any other CD for that matter...

I have a yamaha dvd-c750. I have just created a slideshow using iphoto on a Mac, burnt to a TDK DVD +R. Inserted into the DVD drive. Machine tries to load it. Gives a message "unknown disc"? ...

DVD players can be picky with the type of file format that they use. According to an amazon.com review of this player, it does read DVD+RW/+Rs & DVD-RW/Rs so the problem probably resides in your file format.

The problem is probably the fact that the DVD Player does not recognize the file format of your Mac slide show. The computer recognizes this format, as it plays the slide show. The DVD player recognizes JPG file formats, which is the standard format of a picture.

If a DVD is made with JPG Files, not your slide show files, it will display thumbnails of each picture, allowing the choice of what picture to view.

If the slide show is a must, try to save it to a video file format, such as a *.mpg or *.avi which are common video file formats. These files would be movies of the slide show that you have made.
