How do you clean a drain plug on a top freezer model? Can you DIY? I have the TBX 24JA, but there is nothing in the manual or web sites that I've seen except for side by sides.

I just helped someone else with this so i copied what i just wrote, hope this helps you ou this happens from a blocked drain in the freezer.when the machine goes into defrost a heater comes on in the freezer and melts the ice off of the evap coil.normally the water drains down through a hole under the evap. coil but yours is blocked with muck, ice and matbe some food particals but over the years slime forms in the drain.if you know how to put the machine into defrost do it or just unplug it,remove everything out of the freezer, remove the inner back wall of the freezer and with a hair dryer melt out all the ice,all the ice has to be melted off of the coil or anywhere you see it,now you have to clear the drain,i use a steamer to blast through the stuff in there to clean it but if you don't have a steamer you need something that will blow into the hole like a turkey baster or a shop vac,try vacing the stuff out and then put it on blow and try to blow the line out,if you try to snake something down there watch out the drain is plastic, also you can open the fridge door and in the middle of the seiling you can heat it up with the hair dryer to melt the ice in the drain and then blow through the line, when you think it's clear pour hot water into the hole,if it drains through then it's clear if not keep at it until you clear it. t.

Water dripping from inside rear of fridge compartment of GE-TBX series

more than likely you have a clogged drain. This occurs when the machine goes into defrost and the melted ice somehow is prevented from draining and therefor refreezing and blocking the drain for the next defrost cycle. Over time it gradually builds and starts voer a larger area. Being you have a top mount refrigerator(freezer on top) there are air ways that connect the freezer to the fridege, which is how its cooled. The best way to resolve this is to unplug the machine for atleast 24-48 hours to let all ice melt
If thats not an option that you want to use the actual repair method would be to 1) unplug the machine 2) empty everything out of the freezer so you'll have room to work 3) take all the shelving and baskets out 4) locate the screws on the rear wall inside the freezer and remove them 5) take the back panel off exposing the evaporator coils ( the aluminum ) 6) directly below the coils is a trough of sorts and the drain is usually in the middle and runs out the bottom, remove the ice by carefully chipping it out or by using a hair dryer or hot water. 7) once all the ice is gone, the drain is visible and water can flow smnoothly down the drain dry the area and reassemble.

Hi there, I have an LG wash dryer combo WD14126RD and I'd like to know whether I should clean or service it? I've had for quite a while and although there is nothing wrong with it, I just want to...

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,

You are absolutely right in thinking about maintaining a serviceable washer ;-0)
At the very least the drain filter will probably need cleaning but rather than me bleating on and on, methinks the best idea is for you to have a manual- for now and later!

Manual
You will need to type into your search engine/web browser '(make model number) washer manual' and you should be presented with a number of sources from which you can either download for free or have to pay a nominal amount.
You could also try the manufacturer's web site direct ;-0)

If this has assisted you please consider a 4 thumbs up for the rating.
Thanks and good luck!

The freezer keeps leaking water into the refrig box. i've cleaned out the freezer and wiped it down and can't see anything built up....can you advise me on the next step? thank you

Sounds as if the defrost drain line is plugged somewhere. You have to find the line and clean it out.Sometimes you can get to it from inside the refrigerator and sometimes you need to move the unit out and you can get to it from the back,

Go to the above web site. You will find the service manual and the exploded view of all the parts manual. On the parts manual page 10, the small part just under part "C" with the circle, is a part numbered 7J02-0400. This just might be the sump drain plug. There has to be one in order to drain the water as this is required as part of the cleaning process. I would locate that first to see if it is missing or leaking.
