Not sure what your asking, but I will try to explain what I think is going on. If you fire the gun cold (one or two shots) and you are on target or zeroed in. Then the more you shot, the point of impact wanders off center or gets worse. This can be caused by the receiver getting hot (warm) from firing, and tweaking the scope in the rings enough to move it. Another reason can be the bullets you are using Then also through a hot (warm) barrel. Bullets stringing or shot placement going up / down can be attributed to the hot (warm) barrel. As the barrel gets warm the diameter increases and gas from the powder will escape around the bullet in the bore and cause flame cutting. Flame cutting can/ will cause a decrease in muzzle velocity, which will string the bullets in a vertical line out at target range. Horizontal bullet placement is caused by sight errors (scope moving) or movement of the gun in the shooters rest, called flinching, or "pulling" as the shooter expects the gun to go off. One way to find out if this is what is happing, is to have a friend load the gun or not load the gun (single rounds) and hand it to you to fire. if your friend does not load it and you flinch thinking shes about to go off you have to work on that aspect of your control. Once you have that control issue out of the way you will see a huge improvement in your shot placement.Hope this helps Fix Ya up.

Hello, I have a Bushnell sportsman 3x9 mounted on a 22. I bought it new last year, but only took it to the range last week. I can't get the left/right cross hairs to move enough. At 25 yards, it shoots 9...

Start buy loosening the scope in the mounts. Loosen the front first to see if it is in a bind (left/right). Tighten it back down but not completely. Loosen the rear looking for some movement or popping sound. If you see a movement or notice some odd thing. check the mounting slots for dirt or dings that may cause an offset to the mount. If all is well. Go and start and zero for 13 - 15 yards. you want to be 1 1/2 inch hi. Now after each shot rap the scope with a screw driver handle or something solid, just to give the scope a shock not hard enough to bend it or dent it but shock it. Large scopes are meant for larger shock than a 22 produces, rapping the scope will help move the cross hairs and settle them in place. Hope this Fixya up. If it does help, please leave a testimonial. How do i site in my Bushnell Banner 30x-9x scope?

i would start by supporting it on a table, if you don't have a bore sight look down the barrell or side of the barrell, holding it steady look into the scope. make them match the a spot on the wall, keep adjusting the scope until they match. this will get you close before you shoot. i would set up a target at 25 yards. set the scope close on left, right, up and down. move out to 100 yrds and shoot a 3 group pattern. let the barrell cool, make adjustments and shoot again. it should be set.

Scope wont shoot good groups

That can get expensive, I had the same problem, bought a Bushnell scope and it went everywhere but on the target, couldn't hold it steady, with my win mod 70 in 308 with heavy barrel, I said that's it, I went and bought a Leupold, no problems since. I don't know what was wrong with the Bushnell, just couldn't handle the blast I guess. I put he Bushnell on my bolt action 223 and haven't had a problem with it, but always expect one because of what happened before. I don't remember the model number, but it was a 3x9. Hope this helps.

Mastere mildot solutions

Mildot sight scopes are NOT range finders unless it is etched into the scope itself. You will need to buy a range finder that is separate.

How to set my bushnell scope 3-9x40 for 200 yards

The Bushnell 3-9X40 has been around for quite some time in several forms, but it is pretty standard to set it like any other scope.

With the gun resting solidly on sand bags or something like a Lead Sled, shoot at a target with a 1" grid on it. Those targets are a free download at http://targetz.com/, but you have to browse to find them. Targets No: 10049 or 10058 are both usable, if you can see a 1" aiming point with a 9 power scope at 200 yards.

With a known point of impact (POI) at 200 yards, you can move the POI to where you want it (inside the caps at the center of the scope, there are adjusting screws or slots). The norm is 1/4" per click (the adjuster can usually be felt to click) at 100 yards or four 1/4" clicks for an inch. At 200 yards, the adjustment will be twice what it is at 100 yards or 1/2" per click.

Make your adjustments, using the grid on the target to tell you how many inches it needs to move, and shoot the target again to confirm the adjustment is correct. It's pretty standard to shoot at least a three shot group to ensure the bullets are reasonably close to each other.

Another method is to set the POI at a certain number of inches high at 100 yards and assume it's right at 200 yards. If the mid range trajectory, for your cartridge, at 200 yards is X inches high at 100 yards, you can set your POI to that X inches high and be pretty close at 200 yards.

Bought a 444 Handi Rifle with a Bushnell 3200 firefly scope on it. Tried to sight it in at 75yds yesterday. I adjusted the elevation up 6 to 8 "inches" and I am not noticing any change. Still shooting low....

O.K Your gun packs a good kick, but you might try to first, tap the scope with the handle of a fair sized screw driver, after each adjustment. Next do not adjust it so many clicks at the time just 3 clicks and see if she moves the point of impact. Try a few clicks and tap the main shaft of the scope kind of rap it then shoot for group, fair 2 rounds to see if it has settled down, then adjust a few, tap and fire. work slow with a older scope and try to stock up on the bullets you decide to go with and zero for them. Any other round you use do not zero, but use go old windage to pratice with.

To adjust the vertical on a Bushnell Banner scope, which way do I turn the screw and how much. I am 6 inches high

The top turret should be the one you need. You should see an U or D with an arrow pointing in one direction or another. Your scope should move the point of impact 1/4 inch at 100 yards for each click. Moving the adjustment 24 clicks in the down direction should fix you up if you are shooting at 100 yards. The movement will be linear for other distances.

I have a Bushnell Elite 4200 6x24x40 rifle scope 42-6242M

First is to try for a group, do not adjust the scope in any way. Shoot 4 rounds with out adjusting the scope. The gun should settle down and start to group. If you can not get a group in 6 rounds go clean that gun & check your ammo. Start over. If she does not group, its the gun not the scope. Once it starts to group move the cross hairs in the opp direction small clicks and "TAP' the scope after each adjustment. Shoot for a group each time 2 rounds should group. Get a target that has a grid to help get on faster.

Sighting in, clicks don't move where they're supposed to.

Ja, it's 1/4 M.O.A, so at 25 yards/meter it'll be ca 3 inches. You may have gone in the wrong direction. That is, if it was 3' high, and you went another 3 higher then you'd be at the top of the paper. Probably you've got it figured out by now.

The easiest, fastest, cheapest way to zero is with a rifle rest you can clamp your scope into, or alternatively somehow immobilize your rifle some other way. You take a shot, at 25 yards or so. It makes a hole. You now immobilize the rifle, via your rest or heavy sandbags, with the scope pointing exactly where you aimed before. You now, carefully and without moving the rifle/scope off of the point of aim, dial your reticle to point at the actual bullet hole. Your next shot will be at your point of aim now. So you just put it at the right height above your point of aim at 100 yards now.

Dwc3-9x40 scope

its real simple at the top and on the side of the middle of the scope you will find 2 knobs. unscrew the knobs and you will find 2 flat head screws one for each knob. one will say up with an arrow the other willsay right with an arrow. go to the gun range. set the rifle up on a bench ,fire, adjust the screws up or down left or right until the bullet and the crosshair matches one click of the screw will equal out to 1/4 of an inch adjustment. if you change ammobrands you need to do this again.you will never be perfect but at 100 yards you should get 3 bullets in a 3 inch circle.
