The spin cycle is used to rid the water by centrifugal force. As the tub spins, the water iis forced out of the clothes. The banging noise comes from the weight of clothes being on one side making the load unbalanced. The machine will absorb some minor unbalancing. If it gets real loud & the machine starts dancing, shut the machine off by raising the lid, when tub stops, rearrange clothes.

GE Profile - Loud knocking on spin cycle

Just random input, I apologize if this is of no help to you. I've only experienced this with my washer when clothes somehow get bunched up on one side of it.  The best I can tell you at the moment is to make sure there is relatively equal distribution of clothes around the "washer bucket thingy" if you hear the bang bang bang again.

Machine drum makes loud noice in the spin cycle. Makes the same sound that a top-loading machine makes when it goes out of balance. Help.

  • Hi,
  • Try these:
  1. Balance the load
  2. Level the machine
  3. Inspect the water pump for a blockage
  4. Inspect the coupling
  5. Inspect the transmission
  6. Adjust the drive belt tension
  7. Check the motor bearings
  8. Check the drum brakes

When in spin cycle the tub is loose and makes a banging noice.

if the basket has excess movement separate from the agitator or tub then the hub nut may be loose or maybe the tub rusted out and broke. you will need to pop the top of the agitator off and remove bolt holding it to shaft, pull agitator out and look at hub nut.

Kenmore 80 Series washing machine - loud banging at end of spin

With the lid open, set the cycle to spin and press the lid switch button with a pen. Wait until the drum gets to full speed and release the lid switch. If the drum makes a knocking/ thumping noise and doesn't stop spinning within 2-3 seconds, the basket drive block is worn and needs to be replaced. (The basket drive block is located on the gearcase drive shaft, under the tub and agitator) If this has been happening for a long time you may need to replace the brake and drive tube assembly as well.

If that's not it, let me know and I will try to help you further.

Grinding noice

more then likely that the pump has some kind of blockage in it this will cause the washer not to empty fully which when it goes onto spin it will bang about due to the water going from side to side check the pump will be underneath just were the drain hose goes into the washer you will have to strip to get the blockage out once done it should work fine m8
