Here's a link to the Owner's Manual
for a service manual, you're probably going to have to contact Roland directly, since they don't even list the fp-8 on their website. Service manuals for their other products only run about five bucks for a hard copy, i believe. I'm sure you can get to the right place through here: http://www.rolandus.com/corporate/contact_us/

How do I fix a Roland Digital Piano FP-8 that has refused to play sounds despite the fact that it displays lights?

If everything lights up and responds to button pushes like normal, and you've done a hard reset as described in the manual, check to see if you have sound out of the headphone jack. It's most likely not a user serviceable problem and will need to go to the shop, but it will probably be the output amp rather than the main board.

How do I change electolytic coupling caps for a Roland FP-8 Piano?

Replacing the electrolytic capacitors in this keyboard would require you to be somewhat experienced in electronic soldering, especially the surface mount electrolytics. You should be able to find how-to videos on YouTube if you are curious. You also probably do not need a service manual. The values of the capacitors should be printed directly on them. Replace them all. Replacements can be ordered from Mouser. BUT, I suggest at least bringing in a friend that has experience with these types of repairs. These circuit boards are not designed for inexperienced soldering!

Hi, I am undecided about which digital piano to buy: Yamaha Arius 141 or Roland F110? help appreciated, thanks, karol.

I have two Yamaha's and I will say they are maintainable. Almost ALL the weighted piano key models use a keyboard made by one company as I understand it. I can easily get service manuals for the Yamaha, not quite as easy for the Roland... same goes for repair parts. Your decision... listen to each and decide. Hint: Use a set of headphones to do the compparision rather than internal speakers as the orientation in a music store can drastically change the sound.

I have a Roland FP 1 digital piano, serial #AL21141N. It has gradually quit putting out sound through the speakers. At the onset of the problem, I could fit it by jiggling the 1/4" speaker plugs,...

I first would suspect the switches on the eadphone jack. Normally these cut off the speakers when headphones are plugged in. These jacks and the switches are really weak, poorly made, and easily broken, especially if headphone cord gets yanked.

your sound process digitaliser has burned out the crackling should have warned you as to the fault and had it replaced (fixed) right away this is a simple repair but does need to be done by an electronics tech

I have a Roland HP 2e digital piano - Foot pedal problem

The ROLAND pianos USUALLY require that you use a normally closed sustain pedal.

MANY pedals are the opposite and close when pressed. SOMETIMES you can open the pedal and reverse the way the switch works.

I need a service manual for Roland FP8 piano, or..

Did you ever get hold of an FP-8 service manual? The weight replacement is relatively simple: The case opens by removal of eight screws, four at each end on the underside. The top then hinges up. Keyboard assembly is removed by first unplugging the two white ribbon connectors at the center, then removing the screws at the front edge (underneath) and the screws (gold) at the back of the assembly (accessible from the top). Keys pop out by spreading the two "wings" at the pivot point, and then the weights (Roland calls them "hammers") lift out. Roland will sell you new ones, but I have no idea whether the replacements are any better than the originals. I've done two of these pianos so far, and have a third waiting to be worked on. I do have a service manual, but I think I downloaded it freebee somewhere.
The other failure mode on this piano is the electolytic coupling caps on the output board - I've replaced all of them on both pianos - don't remember the value offhand.
