Our ld090 copier keeps reporting a jam in the output tray, but there is no jam. We have been told this is a problem with a sensor. What can we do?

If there is no paper inside, maybe the problem is with some sensor. Exit sensor maybe...
But you also can see somethings. Make sure that the doors are well closed. If you have an open switch (door switch) the machine don't change the first message (that is "jam").

Can't find the paper that is jammed in the printer (laserjet 2600n) its says its in the output bin

The output bin sensor check the quantity of printed paper that remain in the upper part of the printer. When the paper is too much, the sensor report a paper jam.

Check the lever of the sensor in output bin if it's working properly

What is a media jam and output tray is missing error? I could not find what these terms mean in the troubleshooting section.

Sounds like a little piece of paper is jammed on the rollers on top, or you have a bad sensor. Get in there and blow it out with compressed air or if it under warranty send it back.

Oh btw media jam (paper)and output tray(top part where paper comes out) is missing error (sensor is prob bad)

i hope this helps

It is sying i have a paper jam but there is no paper in it

There are two types of paper jams:

1) A jammed piece of paper at or near a sensor. Or a shred of paper is stuck under a sensor.
2) A paper feed operation that does not send paper into the printer will get reported as a jam it the paper does not reach a sensor in the time that is allotted to reach the sensor. The printer knows that the page is late and suspects a jam occurred prior to the sensor.
To determine if there is a “Pick” problem in the tray, place a mark (line or scribble) on the top sheet in the paper tray. Send a print operation to the printer. If a jam is reported, check the tray. If the marked page is still in the tray then you know the paper pick failed.
There are dozens of reasons for paper to fail to pick. The simplest fix to try is to remove the paper and fan it to remove any possible static charge causing the paper to stick together.

It keeps saying paper jam why? it is not jammed/

Paper jams are reported under two conditions.

1) Paper reaches a sensor and never leaves it.

2) Paper does not reach the sensor in the time allotted.

A simple test is to put a mark on the next page that should be pulled from the paper tray. If the paper is pulled from the tray, you will find it inside the printer. If the paper fails to feed, it will be sitting in the tray where you marked it.

Hp printers continue to jam

Print a self-test report Use the following steps to print a self-test report.
  1. Load plain white paper in the input tray.
  2. Press Setup , and then press 2 . The Print Report menu displays.
  3. Press 1 to select and print a Self-Test Report .
IMPORTANT! Try to print a self-test report after every solution even if the solution resolves the issue. Solution one: Clear the paper jam Follow these steps in the order presented to resolve the paper jam. Step one: Remove loose paper from the tray Remove any loose sheets of paper from the input tray and the output tray. CAUTION: Do not remove jammed paper at this stage. Trying to clear jammed paper from the front of the product can damage the print mechanism

HP 4200 printer paper jam. No paper is jammed

OK, if the printer says jam but no paper inside and prints after you open and close the cover the paper likely never made it out of the tray. Or the machine thinks the page never made it out of the machine.
As far as input check your rollers 1 in the tray and the pick up roller in the machine if you don't have alot of pages on the machine these likely OK.
Next (and this I have found often) check the paper back stop in the tray. This is the guide to set the length of paper. If it is set just a little long the roller cannot catch the edge of the paper. Sometimes the teeth the guide sets in are broken or worn.
The output would be the sensor in the fuser replace fuser.
Hope this helps

Paper jam

The paper jams in the bottom because the leading edge hasn't reached the correct sensor in time, thus causing a jam message. Do a sensor test on the front panel of the printer before replacing any parts. Go into Diagnostics/Sensor test and you will see the letters across the top follwed by numbers below. Then you want to toggle the sensors located through out the paper path-usually black plastic hanging done into the tray areas. Up in output tray has black plastic hanging down-sensors. lift top cover and you can see the sensors on the left side of the top a black horseshoe shape is a sensor. This will help with the correct parts needed to be replaced.

Jam error B3S

This is a problem with the preheater sensor. It could be a clutch, paper tray seperation pad, or (my vote for most likely) the preheater assy. Not too expensive, but you should get a technician to look at this.
