My SW 3000 Invert/Charger works fine at the dock on shore power but will not charge or let the AC pass through the unit on my Genset. The genset runs everything else on the vessel including a 19000 BTU Air and heat, is there something that I need to program???? I have conf. all the AC settings to the highest and the lowest and still nothing happens. My genset has 124.8 volts at the wires coming into the unit. Please come up with an answer for this unit is only 2 months old and my last one was the MS 3000 and I was told that they are not repairable. Thanks, Mike McAloon

What happens when you try? breaker trip? shut downs unit? what code flashes on the units start switch? Does the HVAC run ok on shore power? Does it happen when the HVAC runs turns off, then back on in less than 5 mins (high head pressure and locked rotor start current) Please give more details

Do you have power at the outlet where the unit is plugged in? If not restore power to that point. Next, check the main breaker to determine if it has tripped. It may look like it is on but to verify, turn it off and then back on. It should click into place. If that does not work and your trailer has a genset with a transfer switch. Check the transfer switch to make sure that it has not failed. It may be locked into the genset side and not switching back to shore power. If you are running the genset and do not have power make sure the breakers on the front of the genset are on.

You may have a week cap. just pick up a new one and also install a hard start kit. should solve your problem. worst case you have a bad compressor.

the inverter is charging the batteries but when mains power fails , the batteries will be discharging back through the inverter that is dc converted back to ac
if you power on a genset and the ac is not phased correctly, what you describe will happen--- inverter ac from the batteries against genset ac to the inverter-
If you had mains power on then it would dead stop the genset because of the out of phase situation
it all has to do with the 2 wave patterns for ac current from each unit being in harmony and not working against each other

Depends on wattage demand of ac unit. VXA=W 110x20amps=2,0200 Watts. A 2,00 watt generator is too small. Best go for a 3,kw genset. A 5 kw will leave you room to run appliances and the ac simultaneously., otherwise you will need to watch your margin usage. I think 4.5 kw gensets are also available. Happy trails.

If you are referring to a Trace 2412 inverter, which series is it? An SW or a DR series? In either case, if it won't accept generator power, but the AC input indicator is flashing, the problem is most likely the generator output power is off frequency or voltage. Trace inverters will only connect when the AC input is within certain limits. I'd suggest checking the frequency and voltage output of the generator. If it won't connect to shore power, check the voltage from that source. Make the voltage checks at the inverter input terminals.

If the govenor didn't work that means that you placed the linkage on the carberator the wrong way. This will cause the genset to overspeed and possibly stop the genset from creating voltage. If the genset does not create voltage then you won't have a charger. Fix the linkage first by looking to make sure that the throttle plate is closed before starting genset. Once you start the genset check for voltage.

I'd say you probably have to have the gfi receptacle replaced. The gfi recepts can be pretty touchy sometimes. The test and reset buttons sometimes stick or do not reset due to just being old and not used very often. I am an electrician and we see this alot. I try and test mine often as I can remember to do it. If you are not qualified or experienced with this type of work please find someone who is. If you do attempt the change out, just please do it with the power to the outlet off!! Be careful around electricity! Good luck, I hope you find the right solution!
