Sharp LC42D65U 42 in. LCD HDTV Logo

Sharp LC42D65U back lights wont turn on, blinking green power light. steady blink, no change in pattern. I attempted putting the TV in service mode(chdwn and vol+, while plugging in the unit). I believe it goes into it because the 24V and BLON signals are both present(from the power supply(24v) and logic board(3.3v-BLON) to the inverterboard) when I do this(yet the back lights still wont illuminate) and the signals are there indefinitely. They are only present for about 8 secs when I just plug the unit in, then the signals dissappear. I'm guessing that is the logic board doing this as it senses a fault. Furthermore, my guess is there is a problem either with one of the lamps, or the inverter board itself. I tried looking for a service manual to troubleshoot further, but all the places I looked online seem shady.....can anyone give me a hand here?

I also checked the 4 fuses I could find, all have continuity.

    F1,2,3 on inverter board
and the fuse for the AC input.

SOURCE: Blinking green power light

All,

I had the same issue after one month of use. A repair cie came and fixed the problem. It appenned to a neon connector that wasn't properly plugged in the TV.
The Technician explained to me that m TV had 16 neons and a sort of controler for those. Often - from factory - a cable is not sitting properly in its position...

Since I have no problem.

Blinking light is an error code. Count the blinks before they repeat. Check your manual in the troubleshooting section. If you can't find it, contact a Sharp service center or try and get a service manual. Reset info is also in the user manual but you can't do it if your set doesn't power up. Are you sure about the power board?

SOURCE: TV won't turn on

the first thing that you need to do is to open the back cover of your tv.Go to the power supply section it is separate board where the power cord is connected.Using a multitester, plug in the power cord and measure for the output supply.see if the 5vdc ,12vdc and 24vdc are present..if one of this output is missing, replace the power supply board But if the output voltage are complete, replace the inverter board,It is a board that supplies the high voltage to the backlights of your monitor/screen....You can also try to reset the system of your tv by pressing the the small switch mounted on the main board press it twice while the power is on...tnx and good luck!

So when i turn on my sharp hd it turns off then the opc light comes on! Then the power light and opc light keep flashing!! Alls i want 4 it to work? Plz help

The television has gone into a coma. It is going to need to be serviced or replaced. The blinking code is a pattern. If you look at the power light and the opc light separately and independently, you can acquire the blinking pattern. Cover opc and look at power only. Note how many times it is blinking before it pauses. It might just blink steadily. Next cover power and look at opc alone. Note how many times it blinks before it pauses.

Depending on which model you have it might work if you leave the television unplugged overnight. The next day plug the television back in and wait for the blinking to start. Hold down the power button on the side of the television until the light stops blinking and turns red (usually right away). Let go. Press and release the power button once more and the light should turn orangish and then green. The television should turn on.

You can call Sharp and have a case file created and try and INIT with the customer service representative.

I have a mitsubishi 1080 projection tv. I wont turn on, the green light just keeps blinking.

Check the manual...blinking green light is normal. The unit is powering down cooling the lamp. It could have been a shut down command through pressing the off button by accident. If problem continues I would unplug tv and power on/off. Steady green. Next to the lights is a small indentation where you can reset the TV to the defaults. Take a paper clip ...power on..and put in the center. The green light will blink for a minute or two then go dark. THen power up.

Dont have a remote

A green blinking light usually indicates an internal problem. The service person can use the pattern of the blinks to determine the problem.
