Remove the wires from the terminals of the thermal fuse then join them togeModel 11-85862400: Check Lint Screen light - 18a0895.jpgsulate the connection properly.
Reconnect power then press start. Replace the thermal fuse along with the thermistor if the dryer starts. The thermal fuse is wired in series with the motor and if it is blown, power to the motor is terminated and will not run. No dryer function works when the motor doesn't run. The thermal fuse usually blows due to failed thermistor or blocked lint screen or vents. This is the reason the "Check lint screen." message flashes.
Disconnect power, if the dryer still doesn't start, then remove the top panel and check if the belt is still on. The belt activates the belt switch which is also wired in series with the motor and the thermal fuse. The motor will therefore not run if the drive belt is off and the belt switch is not activated.
Check the wire connections on the electronic control board. The electronic control board has indeed failed and needs to be replaced as what the Sears repairman said. The electronic control board is part number 8546219 and it costs about $180.
