The machine is locked from entering an incorrect password. We unplugged it for more than an hour, and plugged it back in and its still frozen. We need to get back running immediately. What do we do?

If you know the passcode you can put that in manually with the projector buttons.

Maybe a faulty door lock

This happens because every time a Yahoo Account holder logs into his account, he's logged in with a cookie.

A cookie is an information packet that proves you are the valid account holder.
However, when a person tries to access an account with many failed attempts, the cookies expires, triggering the ID lock on the account.
24-Hour Wait

A Yahoo account holder must wait up to 24 hours before accessing the account again.
The lock on the account expires within 24 hours from the time the account was locked.

Unlock Using Another Server Since Yahoo! has many servers around the world, a user can log into his account by visiting a different Yahoo server address. (See Below.)

Copy and paste a Yahoo! server URL into the address bar of your Internet browser to access the website.
Enter the Yahoo! ID and password in their respective fields, and click on "Log in" to access your yahoo account.
Avoid Yahoo Account Locks
To prevent future Yahoo! account locks, a user should limit the number of times he tries to enter a password.

If an account holder has forgotten his password, he should use the "Forgot Passsword" feature to reset the password.

You will have to remove the power cord, remove the battery and remove the CMOS Battery that is located on the motherboard. On most computers you will have to take the laptop apart to get to the cmos battery. On some systems it looks like a silver nickel that you will need a small flat head screw driver to pop it out. On other systems it will be inside a vinyl covering and has a cable that plugs into the motherboard. Once you remove the CMOS Battery, let it sit for an hour or two then put it back in and put the laptop back together. Boot the machine and you'll probably have to go into the Bios or System Setup because the system will have forgotten the date, time and password.
If the password is not reset then you will have to short the password jumper on the motherboard with a screwdriver or there may be a pin on the motherboard that you can remove to reset it. I would consult the owners manual before attempting either of these two options.

If the computer you are servicing has an unknown password,
follow these steps to set a new password. These steps also
clear CMOS
1. Enter an incorrect password and press enter.
2. Repeat step 1 two more times.
After the third entry of the incorrect password, the computer
responds with a System Disabled message and provides an
override password.
3. On another computer running Windows XP, download the
unlock6.exe utility from the HP Channel Services Network
(CSN) Web site at http://www.hp.com/partners/csn. Copy the
unlock6.exe utility into the root directory (C\ drive).
4. Access MS DOS by clicking Start/All Programs/
Accessories/Command Prompt.
5. Enter unlock6 xxxxx 0, where xxxxx is the password
generated by the computer in step 2.
The computer responds with another system generated
password.
6. Enter the password generated in step 5 on the disabled
computer to enter the system BIOS. In the BIOS, navigate
to the Security tab and Administrator Password. Enter the
password generated in step 5 as the current password. Enter
a new password to change it.
7. The password has been reset and all CMOS settings have
been cleared.

Enter the incorrect password or attempt to enter the correct password. It will eventually lock you out and require you to plug the iPod into iTunes.

backup and hard reset

The thing is that somebody set bios password. On phoenix bios based on intel platform? like yours normally if you will enter bios password incorrectly 3 times bios will lock the computer and it will generate 12 digit lock code. You will need to contact Toshiba technical support to get bios unlock password. (Normally this is generated by them within couple of hours.)
I would recommend you to check with toshiba support before locking bios (entering password incorrectly 3 times)

To enter the codeAfter installation or when the set has been disconnected from power, the set displays "codE" when it is switched on.
Enter the 4-digit code using the preset buttons. If the correct code is entered, "on" is displayed and the
set is ready to use.
If you enter an incorrect code you must enter the correct code again from the beginning.
Incorrect code
If an incorrect code has been entered "rPt" is displayed. Enter the correct code.
After three unsuccessful coding attempts the set will lock and remain locked for two hours.
"OFF" is displayed.
After two hours have elapsed, re-enter the correct code.
NOTE: During the two hours waiting period, the set must be connected and turned on.

Hard disk password is set from the BIOS. It is usually set in conjunction with the Power On Password. This password is stored on the EEPROM chip and is very difficult to crack - no backdoor passwords. It is used to prevent unauthorized access to the laptop and the data on the hard disk. Removing the hard disk and inserting it into another computer will not allow access to data without the HDD password.

Unplug the unit for 5 minutes... After you plug it back in try to power it up. If it won't power-up it's not the result of any lock feature you have another problem... If it powers up and Smartlock is on try this:
The entry code for AutoLock (Magnavox SmartLock) to reset the password code number is 0711 twice.
However, if 0711 is entered just once, the response to first time will be "INCORRECT". If the word INCORRECT is allowed to time out then the second entry of 0711 is not accepted.
To avoid this response when the first 0711 responds with INCORRECT, Immediately enter 0711 a second time. It will then ask for the new code.
Enter the new code and confirm it (2nd time) and proceed to set the blocking as desired.
