I have deleted several files to free the memory but still this only shows 160 mb free but I've deleted nearly 5 gb. what do i need to do to get the archos to recognize this. I have cycled the deletes by ejecting the archos and waiting for it to update only to plug it back into the computer and find only 160 mb free.

Morning there It may depend on what kind of material you are downloading, I have had similar experience. For me it worked to devide the material into smaller units, to download inparts. I do notknow if that will work for the material you have. Give it a try. all the best Kolbrun.
Did you save music files on phone memory? If yes , it is time to move it to your memory card. Also check for other big files that still keep in phone memory. If able , just move also your theme files to memory card. Move / delete also old messages files, games (if any), etc in phone memory.
Like computer, your phone need enough space for caching.
Hi Abrar, the memory card is a fixed storage device in terms of capacity. There is no way the size can be increased. The only thing that you can do is either delete some files from the memory to free some space or to replace the memory card with a higher capacity like 2 GB, 4GB or 8GB.
Formatting the memory means to prepare the memory so that it can be recognized by the phone. Be warned that formatting the memory will delete all files stored in the memory card.

If you already deleted or moved to memory card your files, that means that the space is taken by installed application/games, or by files left over by previously installed applications.
Save all your files on computer and do a complete reset of the HTC, restoring system to factory settings.
i have that kind of problem on my n73, it alway flashes memory full and i cannot recieve any sms, i formated my n73 using the dialkey*3 procedure and after reformating it cleared my phone memory, of courese u have to back up all important data, formating your phone will erase everything.
