Try pressing the reset button to reset the unit.
According to DSLReports (http://www.dslreports.com/faq/13945) a flashing red DSL LED is not applicable. The unit performs a power on self test (POST) when the unit is powered on during which the power LED will blink green.
When in doubt, reset the unit. Also, if you have been unable to connect, check your network settings.

The way I see it, there are 2 options:
1) There's a problem with your phisical internet connection - check the modem configuration and\or contact your ISP so they'll check that everything is configured well on their side.
2) Your router is failing... have it replaced!
