Try pressing the reset button to reset the unit.

According to DSLReports (http://www.dslreports.com/faq/13945) a flashing red DSL LED is not applicable. The unit performs a power on self test (POST) when the unit is powered on during which the power LED will blink green.

When in doubt, reset the unit. Also, if you have been unable to connect, check your network settings.

Hey!

The way I see it, there are 2 options:
1) There's a problem with your phisical internet connection - check the modem configuration and\or contact your ISP so they'll check that everything is configured well on their side.
2) Your router is failing... have it replaced!

In case of a problem or clarification, don't hesitate to post me a reply before rejecting my answer.
If you are satisfied, rate my solution with the "thumbs" or (even better) add a testimonial.

Best regards,
Pelu.

How to install to att 2wire 2701hgb modem router

Plug power cord into back of modem and then into an electrical outlet. At this point you should see the lights on the front of the modem beginning to come on.

Check the front of the modem for a solid green DSL light. If the light is still blinking, allow a few more moments before proceeding to step 5. A blinking DSL light indicates a break in the network and will require the help of your service provider if it does not turn solid green.

Open your internet browser and type the default gateway into address bar. The default gateway will be provided by your service provider. Newer model 2Wire modems automatically direct you to the installation instructions when the browser is opened.

Click on "Run System Setup Wizard" in the lower right-hand corner. It may require the system password. This password will be provided by your service provider.

Select your timezone and click 'Next.'

Enter your ISP provided login information and click 'Next'. This should authenticate your credentials on the network and complete the installation.

Dsl light flashes red constantly

Whenever your dsl light on the 2wire modem turns red,it only means that there is a problem with the dsl connection to the modem. Here are some ways on how you can isolate the problem

1. check if your modem is properly connected to the phone jack by unplugging and replugging you phone cable
2. try to reboot the modem
3. if still getting the same lights, contact your ISP

2WIRE 2701 router

You must log on to the browser interface of the router (usually for 2wire they use 192.168.1.254) run the set up wizard it will come to a screen which asks for a key code, this key code is provided by your ISP, you can try one of these and see if it works
if you have a PPPOE connection (you have a user name and password to log on to the internet with use this one.

5225-26Q4-2262-22AS-B28F

if it is not PPPOE use this

5225-26P4-6262-22AS-B2E7

to manually configure the router use this

5225-2374-WG62-22AS-BJ7P

If these do not work call your internet provider and ask them for the key code.

after that you should be all set.
