Pocket watch runs for a period and stops. I was told that the battery has to have a insulation under it, is this true?

No, there is no insulation in it. Sounds like you may have the wrong size battery in the watch. The thickness may be to thin to maintain good contact or there may be some debris hampering the connection to the contact.

New Averger did not work when received. Contacted supplier as I suspected battery. Told I should not open as this would invalidate gaurantee.

Hi
If you purchased it on eBay, then contact eBay for a refund. If the supplier can't get it to work then it's faulty. Depending on which country you are in the consumer laws say your intittled to a refund. Once your got your refund, then open the watch. You might get a surprise, there's no battery inside. Good luck with your indeavours. Regards Bob from The Land Down Under, OZ.

Fossil twist

If you do not wind the watch, and if it is electronic it obviously has a battery. Very possible even with a new watch the battery has run out. This is especially if the watch was sitting for about a year in their inventory before you bought it.

I am not sure if your watch has a kinetic type movement where it charges the watch, or it is purely an electro-mechanical type movement. I did read it has a quartz referenced movement for the mechanical balance wheel. This would certainly involved a battery. If changing the battery is not the fix you would have to send the watch for service.

Changing the battery in a mickey mouse pocket watch

The first answer is a canned answer. Seen it before. Examine the edge of the pocket watch. Start at the stem and look for a slight gap where the back cover meets the case. It is usually at the stem side or hinge side. Once located take a strong sharp knife and carefully pry up the back cover. It should remove fairly easily. I have about 12 pocket watches and they all work the same way. Once open there may be a small screw or two holding the battery in place. You will need a precision screw driver set or a small screw driver for glasses.

Hi can you help me find what year this pocket watch was made . this is a locle number 15215 i was told it was made cilvil war aria is that true and what year thank you

There is so many different Locle pocket watches it's impossible to say for sure without more information and would be speculation on my part.

To get the most accurate info the best thing to do is take a picture of any numbers and hallmarks and post them along with the request for info on a watch forum.
The links below are your best bet.
Hope this helps and good luck.

I just bought my wife a michele csx-36 watch. Its brand new. The watch runs for about one day then stops . What do you think it is. We did replace the battery already. Thanks

that happened to me too...the watch repair man told me that I had the stop watch on. The stop watch should serve as a stop watch, not the second hand. The second time on your watch is the small dial at the bottom middle of the face. Once I turned off the stop watch feature, my battery life is fine...I have not had to change my battery in over 2 years now. HOpe this helps.

My watch has stopped working

mcdevito75 here, Unless you have a good knowledge of takeing apart, even just the back off your watch / pocket watch it"s best to look for a small watch repair shop in your area, but here is what you can do to possibly start your watch / pocket watch. If your watch / pocket watch hasn"t been wound in some time and that time varies from watch to watch, the oil in the watch can become a bit thick so as to not allow the mechanism to work smoothly, leave the watch / pocket watch in a warm place, window sill in the sunlight wrapped in a paper towel for anywhere between a few minutes to 1/2 hour, after the watch / pocket watch has been warmed up hopefully the oil in the mechanism has liquified enough to allow the movement to start working. You can also give the movement a little boost, after the watch /pocket watch is warm, pull out the stem as if to set the time of day, move the stem and hands, sometimes this action will get the watch ticking again. If this fails, BEST BET specially if this is an expebsive or keepsake watch, look for a small watch repair shop in your area for serviveing. approx. $45.00

Hi i have just recieved a pocket watch but cant work out how to adjust the time.

There should be a button on the top that opens the watch, under this is a dial, you lift the dial not the button, there should be a click and the watch will stop, then swivel the dial to set the time.

The second hand of my Tissot watch T870/970 starts and stops.

Hello!
Absolutely astonished by this "solution" from escapement.
This watch is working perfectly - it is simply giving its "end of battery life warning".
