DCR-HC19E Camcorder LCD Screen not Working

Turned on the Camcorder earlier and the LCD View Screen was showing Red colours only. On Closing the screen the normal colours kicked in just before the screen shut off suggesting a connection problem. Then after opening and closing a few times the screen then went white and then stopped working altogether. The normal viewfinder works ok and the camera records and plays back ok. Just the LCD screen that is not working any more.

I have a similar problem: Yesterday afetrnoon, suddenly my lcd was displaying the images in a greenish colour. Some hours later, after having used it several times, the lcd went black, not displaying anything (at the beginning it still worked in an angle just before closing it, but then it didn´t work at all). The viewer, and tape and everything else works properly. I supposse it's a connection problem. What can we do? We can't use the settings of the camera without the lcd. I'm looking for solutions on the web, but can't find anything.

I am having the same problem with my sony SR82. The screen turns green and back to normal again... It seems to be when I almost close it it goes normal again...the only problem with mine is that the one I own does not have any viewfinder so when the screen goes so does the camera. I will not be able to use it!!!

i am having the same problem

I Managed to open the camera up fairly easily and found the flexible cable between the camera and the lcd screen to be broken. It's a 2 part cable so guess the half that's broken controls the display and the other half the touch screen functions. Phoned sony parts people, company called Seme Nedis and also the sony technical team (dont select the camcorder option cos they're useless, pick the last one 4 or 5 on their automated service. Conclusion was that the cable is part of the LCD screen so have to buy the whole unit if you want to replace it. Trouble is the cost is £100.39 including VAT and carriage within UK so not worth it. Will try to get hold of a second hand unit for spares or else will have to buy a new camcorder I think.

    LCD Screen not Working

Similar problem. The camcorder was dropped a few weeks ago. Fine at first but then the screen went a tint of red, then later green. Now the display is just black with none of the control options viewable and the main viewfinder is black also. This is both in playback mode and 'live' mode.

Lcd working normally but the picture does not show

If the LCD screen is off, that could be lots of things, it could be a camera setting in meno, it could be the brightness has been pressed so low you thing it has gone off and it has not, check setting, as unless a wrire has broken in door hinge they seldom go wrong.

Black and white playback with sony handycam dcr-hc20

There is no problem on your camera, DCR-HC19E is PAL system(European system) DCR-HC20 is NTSC(American system). Are you in US or Europe? I think your TV is NTSC, cause the tape recorded on DCR-HC19E you played has no color. To confirm, connect your HC20 to TV in camera mode, not recording yet, just look at the TV as your monitor, If its in color, no problem, just erase the old video recorded on the HC19E, but if its important to you, you can convert it to NTSC using a PC. thanks
