To be able to transfer the video from the camera onto the computer you will need a firewire cable that connects into the camera and your computer as well as software that can import it. The biggest challenge is going to be getting the camera connected over firewire. Firewire is the only cable that is fast enough to handle the strain of the video, but unfortunately most computers running windows do not support firewire. You will have to get a firewire card for the computer or if it is a laptop you are just out of luck.
Hope that helps!

Some times Sony do have small update of programs on the site they have, sorry I am not allowed to paste the link to the Sony site to help you, I did that with 2 people who requested this help and this site told me off for helping them.
You will however find that most Sony Movie camera software is not compatible with any other windows than XP, so you can buy other products as I have to help do the same things, go to Videowave site and see okay?
Take care,
David
Hi,
I 've got a Handycam
Are you connecting using USB or Firewire? Unfortunately there are no USB Windows Vista drivers for your particular camcorder but using a Firewire(i.link) Cable should work.
For further reference here is the support site for your camera.

That was caused be a "glitch" when the camera was writing to the disk. The reason you are unable to read it on your computer the video file was not closed down properly. This could have happened for two reasons I can think of.
- The first and most likely is that the disk its self had a defect on the surface. Anything from a fingerprint to a scratch or a defect in the manufacture. If what you are recording is important DO NOT use generic disks, you save pennies on the desk but risk losing what you shot.
- The other reason is that it might have been a onetime malfunction of the camera, you will only know this if it continues to happen with good quality disks.
The good news is that, Yes everything you recorded is still on your disk but it will take people with special talents and software to perform recovery. Look (local, or search the internet) for "Video data recovery service" Make sure that they do "VIDEO Recovery" Sorry I don't have one to recommend to you. I hope this helps you.

You simply need a driver for your PC, and use a video making bit of software like Video Studio, see it at www.bargainshopping.org.uk and use a firewire on that great camera not USB it will be higher def with Firewire, get them from Maplins or Jesops camera shops around £10.
Hello. i have this camera, but i need help,
My daughter has a similar camera and several times that I have used it I had the same problem. Removing the lens cap solved the problem for me. A simple solution but maybe it will solve your problem.
