Hello, I have a Sony CCD-TRV308 NTSC video Hi8 video camera. I wanted to record video from the analog tapes in my video camera and hook it up to my computer to record them on dvds. I'm not sure what wires I would need to make this happen? Thanks!

Hi,
CCD-TRV308 is analog camcorder that can not be hooked directly with computer because computer needs digital format signal to save it on hard disk that will be used to burn dvd disc.
Easiest way is to connect this camcorder with stand alone dvd recorder, it will convert analog video-audio signal into digital format then record/ burn it on dvd disc at same time, once dvd disc is ready then you can copy it in computer for further editing as per requirement to make another dvd disc.
Next option is to install mpeg card in computer that will get analog signal from camcorder to convert it into digital format then it will be saved on computer hard disk for further editing etc to make dvd disc.
Hope these info will help you, I would recommend to have dvd recorder to record your Video-8 tapes on dvd disc quickly without too much trouble.
Thanks.

Sony Hi8 CCD trv308 NTSC making noise during recording that is audible on playback. Sounds like some moving parts related to turning the tape are not moving as smoothly as they should. Is there anyone...

I had this problem with one of these otherwise very cool cams that I inherited. Something was rubbing on the case of the cassette making a usually faint but audible grinding noise. It is hard to see unless you push the tiny lever on the side of the cassette and flip up the plastic flap that protects the tape. There was a small visible gray grind mark on the center of the case. Now when I buy a new tape I flip open the cassette and carefully scrape away enough plastic on the center of the cassette where it rubs (you can run it a bit and it will grind and show you where) so there is clearance. It worked!!

send them to a lab service ?maybe if there are only a few
or ebay a Hi8 camera and transcode them yourself

its not a solution, at least it clarifies the problem

Tape wont play or eject.

i just read about this c:31:22 problem while looking for a solution to another problem I am having. Someone suggested removing the battery, switching the camera to the "camera" setting, and then turn it off, put the batter back in and it should work. Good luck.

How to copy a Hi 8 tape to a DVD on a computer

Hello,
Sony handycam model starts with CCD-XXXX shows that its analog camcorder and its picture signal is analog. You can't connect directly camera with PC to transfer files. You need to install MPEG card or some thing like that in PC 1st and this card will digitize analog picture signal into compatible format.
