These instructions come directly from the service manual. Notice the mention of a qualified technician. If you do this on your own be careful. If you don't follow the instructions correctly or you break something you've will have no one to blame but yourself.

-Clean the coffee beans container periodically; this operation should be accomplished by a qualified technician! Unplug the machine. Empty the coffee container and unloose the two fastening screws. Now, the container can be removed and cleaned.

-Carefully pull the adjustment lever upwards, previously writing the set grinding degree.

-Turn the adjustment ring counterclockwise, until the blue marks coincide.

-Now, it is possible to remove the grinding ring from the machine, slightly pulling it upwards.

-With the aid of a brush or a narrow vacuum hose, clean both the gear box and the grind ring support. Make sure the position of the grind ring does not shift. To reassemble the coffee grinder, carry out the reverse sequence, making sure the adjustment ring has not been shifted during cleaning. If that is the case, turn it until the blue mark coincide with one of the three notches. Assemble the grind ring support and make sure the blue marks coincide.

-Turn the adjustment ring clockwise, to make the red marks coincide.

-Fit the adjustment lever on the ring, until it coincides with the previously set grinding degree.

Grinder is rotating but beans won't go down.

Hi
Pull the doser adjustment lever (topcenter of the right door) to the minus. Push the grinder adjustment lever (below the right side of the bean hopper) to the back, to # 7, and try again. If that doesn't work you are going to have to clean the grinder.

I have a Saeco Royal Cappuccino maker that is signalling "beans Empty" is making the grinding noisd but the beans are not actually entering the grinder

The grinding burrs need cleaning if we consider than nothing have damage them.
First and simple advice is to use the vacum cleaner and try to **** everything from the grinder and try again the machine. If the problem is insist then you need to sesasemble the grinder and clean the hole grinder with the vacum and also with a wire brush.
Good luck

Machine has major problem with grinding beans.

Try removing all beans from bean holder - then use a vacumn machine to remove the bits down amongst the grinder "teeth'. You may have had a small stone in your coffee and if so it may have jammed the grinder.

Once it looks clean, try making a cup of coffee without the beans in the hopper - you should be able to see and hear the grinder revolving and also hear the brew unit moving between the grinder outlet and the water inlet. If it all seems ok now, then add a small amount of beans back into the beans hopper and try making a coffee. If it still will not work, get it serviced. There's not much the average person can do inside these units other than to do more serious damage or kill themselves with an electric shock.

How do I remove the burr grinder for cleaning? Saeco Royal Exclusive

This is not a hard procedure, but you have to feel comfortable with DIY projects.
First empty the bean container. Vacuum out any remaining beans. Remove the philips screws from the hopper. Lift the hopper off. Vacuum any loose beans out. Remove the rubber gasket. You may clean this with a mild soap solution. Remove the grind adjustment lever- lift straight up with index fingers under the flange. Turn the outer ring with the holes counterclockwise, lift the center ring with the ears straight up when the outer ring is loose enough. The ring with the ears is the upper burr. Clean with a brush. Don't use water or other solutions. Vacuum the beans chamber and brush clean. Replace the upper burr ring matching the ears with the grooves. Turn the outer ring clockwise until it stops. Pull the inner ring to be sure it is locked. Now turn the outer ring back 13 clicks. Replace the rubber gasket. Replace the grinder adjustment lever- drop the lever flange inside on the outer ring with the lever grip loop over the top at #4. Press the flange with two fingers while supporting the outer ring from below. This seems tricky, but be patient. Replace the hopper and screws. Do any grinder adjustments while grinder is running with beans, it may take a few shots to be back at your preference grind! Good luck!

Beans won't grind

Try cleaning out the grinder with the instruction for this link: http://www.cerinicoffee.com/Saeco_technical_documents.asp

Polyglot, if you have done this already it sounds like there is something wrong with the grinder switch on your machine. You will have to get the machine serviced.

We service saeco espresso machines based out of New York.
Checkout our website for more information: www.CeriniCoffee.com

Youngie,

Your problem is not the same as Polyglot. Try cleaning out the grinder using the link above. It works 50% of the time. For some reason your machine is not grinding. Common reasons are water has been accidentally spilled in the bean hopper or the grinder just has a problem and needs to be addressed.

In the case where water spills into the bean hopper you may need to change the grinder burrs. (http://cerinicoffee.com/Grinder_burrs_saeco_gaggia.asp)

Hope this helps.

Saeco easy...

Your grinder needs cleaning- are you using oily beans and/or storing beans in refrig/freezer? Both are a problem for grinder. Also, grinder should not be set to "fine"- it will definitely cause clogging and the situation you point out.. After celaning grinder, will need to re-set it.
