I am a disabled veteran, paralyzed from the chest down. My remote control for Sony DVD player accidentally fell off my bedside table into the trash & got thrown away. Can you help me find a replacement remote at little or no cost, model #DVP-NS57P SONY?

No clarification, didn't want to put your request into the 'solved' category so someone else with a dead player might make you an offer.

Thanks for your sacrifice from a fellow veteran.

Although remotes.com can supply about any remote with an original or a tested substitute, they are costly.
I have sent a the link to your message to remotes.com, maybe they can help you.

If you don't receive a response from them, I would be looking at eBay for a used one.

Would you consider helping this disabled vet?

He knocked his remote into the trash from a bed-side table and it was
tossed.
I suspect he is unable to bear the cost of a new one.

Please look at his plight:

Introduction

The DVD Upgrade is an advanced modification to your DVD player, which adds extra features and enables you to get more from your machine. The upgrade supplements the DVD player and in no way harms the playback quality or removes any performance features of the machine.

Players Supported

The following DVD players are supported by this version of the DVD Upgrade:

 Sony DAV-C700
 Sony DAV-S400
 Sony DAV-S500
 Sony DAV-S800
 Sony CMT-S9D

Macrovision & CGMS disable

All DVD players have a system called Macrovision built in to the player, which is designed to stop the copying of DVD discs to video. However, this system can have adverse affects on some projectors. For this reason the DVD MOD Upgrade disables Macrovision to solve any problems.

User manual

Put your player into „Standby“ Mode and enter one of the following commands if necessary:

Remote control command Function

[1] [ENTER] Region 1
[2] [ENTER] Region 2

[NEXT >>I] [ENTER] Default Disable video interference impulses (Macrovision OFF)
[Arrow left] [ENTER] Enable user operation prohibitions* and access restrictions
[Arrow right] [ENTER] Default Disable user operation prohibitions* and access restrictions

* The DVD can no longer prohibit you from using the fast-forward, chapter change or Audio-/Subtitle-/Angle switch. You can no longer be forced to watch intros. Just press [TITLE] or [DVD MENU] and select PLAY.

I accidentally set my Sony RDR-HX720 remote control setting to DVD 1 while I was reconfiguring various settings on it, and found out to my horror that the damn remote effectively died! - with no way to...

while pressing 'ENTER' on your remote, press and hold down the number '3' key for approx 4 seconds and then it should work.
the same process goes for 'DVD 1' and 'DVD 2' depending on the remote setting on the recorder.
there is no need to point the remote at the recorder when doing the above as it is only the remote itself that is being programmed.

hope this helps.

My dvd player wont let me push anything it just says hold on..i can use the remote though..

To enable the hold function, on the front of the DVD player, slide the POWER/HOLD switch to the right.

****To disable the hold function, slide the POWER/HOLD switch to the left.
NOTE: When the hold function is enabled, the buttons on the DVD player are locked so they will not work if accidentally touched.***

According to Sony, if you turn the power on and hold the Enter key and the #1 key down together for at least 3 seconds, everything will default back to factory settings.
