Resetting "Replace PF Kit 1" message

My LCD displays "Replace PF Kit 1". I've read in relation to other Brothers that this can be reset.

What is the procedure for this MFC-8460N model?

Thanks!

Oh yeah, BTW: if it's not clear, I don't want/need to replace the Tray 1 PF kit. It still works. It seems to be very common with this Brother that things "need" to be replaced before they actually do.

I wonder why that is? [duh: $$$].

I got this same message on my MFC-8460n m/c this morning. I've just gone through the maintenance 88 routine and this appears to have cleared the error. I actually had to follow this process twice more as after resetting the PF Kit, I got a further 2 error messages to replace the Fuser & Laser. By going through the maintenance 88 routine for both of these, my printer is now printing & copying again.

    Thank You!

I had the same problem for an 8460, and the same solution for teh 8860 worked.

I spoke with tecnical support and they told me that this error ment that I had a virus. From doing my research it sounds like it is paper feed issue. Does anyone know?

Same with me on my MFC 8870DW. The procedure worked perfectly:

1) Turn off printer
2) Press and hold menu button and turn on. Keep holding button until you see maintenance on display.
3) Press 88. This brings up parts replacement menu.
4) Press Up arrow until you see the part you replaced (laser, fuser, pf kit1, pf kit mp).
5) Press the OK button.
6) Power off and restart printer.

But how do I know whether or not I really NEED to replace a PF Kit1? I guess I'll find out if it recurs soon.

I had the same issue with a MFC-8460, and the same solution as the 8860 worked.

From what I could figure out from experimenting on an MFC-8860DN we are junking the procedure is:

1) Turn off printer
2) Press and hold menu button and turn on. Keep holding button until you see maintenance on display.
3) Press 88. This brings up parts replacement menu.
4) Press Up arrow until you see the part you replaced (laser, fuser, pf kit1, pf kit mp).
5) Press the OK button.
6) Power off and restart printer.

Not sure if this applies to the 8460. Maintenance menu feels dangerous, so use at your own risk.

NO NETWORK SETTING SHOW IN LCD PANEL IN BROTHER 8370DN AFTER RESET THE PF KIT 1 MESSAGE.

Hi gurjit: try this..

Reconnect the LAN cable to the hub to verify
that the cable and network connections are good. If possible, try connecting the
machine to a different port on your hub using a different cable. If the connections
are good, the lower LED of the back panel of the machine will be green.
sends me the result.

Message reads "Replace PF Kit" but everything is working fine. Is this an error and if so, how do I clear it??

The PF kit has life expectancy, if everything works fine just reset its counter.

Press "3 & 9" together, select the desired parts counter reset.

OK, we've got a second-hand brother 6050dn for our computer lab of about 35 computers. I've recently replaced the PF KIT For the MP drawer, but had trouble resetting it. Finally figured it out...

Replace the parts! If it is used you have no idea of how old the parts in it are even if they look good. The counters that turn these messages count sheets of paper not time and the parts may have moisture damage from sitting up.

I need to replace "PF

Ah the Paper Feed Kit 1 on this unit is pretty easy,
If you remove the paper tray and put the printer on it's back you should see the rollers you're going to replace.. unfortunately the service manual doesn't show this procedure so I can't provide a picture.

If memory serves correctly there should be a long light-blue plastic piece that holds the PF Kit roller assembly in place. If you bend this towards the back of the machine the PF Kit should swing down and you just slide it out, replacement is the reverse of this.

Once you're done you'll have to reset the PF Kit counter by:
Press GO and + together,
you should see RESET PARTS LIFE on the LCD
You can then use the + / - to pick the PF Kit and press the SET key to reset the counter.

If you still have problems let me know via this question and I'll try to help further.

Have replaced drums in printer and after turning the printer off and on several times, there is still a message saying "drums end soon"

1) Press the 1 and 7 buttons at the same time in the ready
status.

(2) The "Reset Menu" will appear on the LCD. Select the
applicable periodical replacement part by pressing the up arrow or down arrow button and press the OK button.

- Drum - Belt Unit - PF KitMP - PF Kit1
- PF Kit2 - Fuser - Laser

(3) When the OK button is pressed the "1. Reset 2. Exit"
appears on the LCD. Press the 1 button if resetting the
counter. If not, press the 2 button.

(4) Pressing the 1 button accepts that the machine implements
the counter reset.

(5) If the 2 button is pressed the machine goes back to the
select part counter again. If you need to Exit press the
Stop/Exit button at any time.

(6) The machine returns to the ready status.

Note:

- All periodical replacement parts are always indicated on the LCD even though their lives do not reach 0 %.

- The PF kit2 is always indicated even though Tray 2 is not installed, or it is not supported for the model to be used.

- The machine returns to the ready state automatically if no panel operation is implemented for 60 seconds.
