I have the nt65ma2 it keeps shooting two nails at once. When you put the nails in do they need to go in the top track ? Or do they slide right in ?

Clearing the Nail and
Staple Chamber
If, while using your Cobra
™
staple
and nail gun, it becomes necessary to
clear a jam from the staple chamber or
track, follow these instructions:

With the bottom of the gun
facing away from your face and
body, open the staple chamber by
squeezing and pulling the plastic
track release straight down away
from the base of the gun and
sliding the track back.(Fig 1)
(Note: the jammed staple or nail
may cause the track to be harder
to slide out than usual. Once the
staple or nail has been cleared,
the track will resume its normal,
free operation) Loose staples or
nails will be expelled from the
chamber.

Clear any remaining staples or
nails from the track and chamber
area.

Reload the Cobra staple and nail
gun and continue using.

I had this problem too, and finally figured out what was wrong. If you have cleared a jam and have put the nail gun back together, then all you get is a 'thunk' when you try to drive a brad, you have put it back together wrong, as I did. Take the two screws out and pull out all four pieces -- three plates and one skinny 'T' shaped piece. Look inside the unit and you'll see a pointed piece, which is the hammer that drives the brad in. This next step is key: put the first plate back in (the one that is flat on both sides) making sure that it slides in UNDER the hammer. The hammer fits loosely in its housing, so it may help to turn the nailer upside down so that the hammer falls down, giving you the room you need to get the plate in--again, so that it's UNDER the hammer when you turn the nailer back over. Once you have done this part, simply slide the second piece in (the one with the fluted strip down the middle), slide it in fluted side up, then the 'T' piece (with the 'T' in first) then the last piece with the wider groove that contains the 'T' piece. Replace screws and you're back in business! This information may be in the instructions, but I have long ago thrown those away.

A nailer driving two nails at a time is usually because the tip of the driver is bent causing it to catch two nails each time it comes down. On rare occasions you can remove the piston/driver and straighten it out but usually not. The driver is hardened steel and has to be perfectly straight to work properly. The part you need is Hitachi's piston, part number 884-330. Shop around the net for one as they are expensive, usually $70 to $80 plus shipping.

Generally caused by three issues. Bent driver, worn or cracked lower bumper or worn piston ring. Remove nails and tilt nose of gun up then down; the driver should not slide up then down cylinder. If driver appears to be loose in the cylinder, replace piston ring. If driver moves up to top with some resistance and stays, then open gun and check lower bumper for cracks or missing pieces. Generally two reasons for nails not to make contact with driver. Make sure that the driver is returning to top of cylinder. If it stays in the path of the nail feeder, the nail cannot slide into position. Second, nails are not the right type or gauge for gun. Some nails even if they are the right gauge have a large head not allowing the strip to enter into chamber. Remove air hose from gun, check that piston is all the way up, then slide nails into chamber and see if they go all the way in easily with-out having to push. You should see the first nail in place from bottom where nail shoots out. The angle of the nail is very important. most pin nailers are 0 degree (not angled), but others have an angle. The gun should be labeled as to angle of nail. Hold a strip of nails against the outside of the magazine and see is the first nail is in line with the driver path. Could be couple problems. Are you using the right nails for this tool the right guage and degree? Is the nose worn allowing 2 nails to be able to shoot. Give me the model number and brand and I will try and find a print for this tool with firther suggestions, but these would be the most common

It is common to see sparks. It is metal striking metal. Although, if it sparks alot. It could be a chipped driver blade and the nail would not drive all the way. Does your sink `em?

Put the top part first, and the lift it until you can put the lower part in and lower it.
