Not only are the Chronotherm IV's less than user friendly, they have a terrible failure rate. It sounds like one of the typical failures of the chronotherm IV. I suggest starting with a new thermostat.

HONEYWELL thx9421R5005 tHERMOSTAT IS NOT ACCURATELY DISPLAYING TEMPERATURE, SHOWS TEMPS THAT ARE TOO HIGH. This causes system to run continuously, and it always calls for both stages of compressor.

First be sure the hole in the wall behind the tstat is sealed with putty or the like. This could be your issue due to negative pressure in the house. What you are describing may be something different, the unit should eventually catch up and satisfy if it was working properly. The house would just be cooler. There is a calibration feature that can change the room temp +/- 5 degrees but seal the whole and measure the return air temp vs the supply air temp AT the unit, NOT the grills.

I can't turn my Chronotherm IV plus off! Can anyone help me. It is going to cost a fortune

Depends what model number you have. The older models had problems. So Honeywell upgraded the model several times. When you say, cant turn it off. If that means the heat will not shut off then you have no choice to replace it, also if the heat, cool, off, switch will not work it is not repairable. Go to Home depot or menards and pick up a thermostat. Find somebody with some handy man skills and they can replace it for you.

Honeywell Chronotherm iv fan keeps running even when heat and cool turned off. How do I turn it off?

Assuming you have the fan switch of your thermostat in AUTO, it sounds like a stuck Fan Relay. If the fan relay is stuck, your fan will continue to run as long as there is line voltage being fed to your unit. This relay could be an independent component or it could be an integral part of your control board. Have an experienced, qualified service technician check it out.

My Honeywell chronotherm IV Plus thermostat intermittent problem

The Chrono Therm 3 and 4's were some of the worst products that honeywell has EVER put out. I would suggest switching to the Vision Pro 8000, please consult your local HVAC company for more information regarding the change over.
