Burners and oven wont get hot and light wont come on

When I turn the burner control to the on position the lights will display and quickly go off. I can then adjust the clock and set oven temperature but the temperature does not increase in the oven and none of the burners are working. When I turn the burner control to the off position, everything goes blank including the clock. The burner seems to act as if it is a on/off button. What's the problem and or solution?

I have a Hot Point Gas Stove my burners all turn on but when I turn on oven nothing seems to happen

If you have a pilotless model it is very likely that your oven igniter is bad. This is fairly easy to replace. A contunuity check will show if the igniter is bad.

How to Troubleshoot a Gas Range Oven That Won't Heat
By Kefa Olang, eHow Contributor
Although gas range oven may prove useful for cooking and baking, they may fail to ignite if they aren't properly maintained and set up. Lighting a gas range often involves simply turning a knob; however, blockages from food particles and debris caught in the burners, improper burner cap installation and gas supply are common problems that interfere with your gas range oven's performance. A few troubleshooting guidelines may solve these problems safely.

Instructions
    • 1
Check you have gas in your tank if your gas range oven won't heat. Contact your gas supplier if you've run out of gas.

    • 2
Clean the burners if you have gas but your burners still won't ignite. To clean the burners, lift the burner caps 9b4f010f-be4f-4db6-8a88-4c3fd17e3339.gif
    • 3
Inspect the small vertical holes on the side of your burners for dirt, food and debris. The gas won't ignite if they are clogged. Scrape dirt, debris and food from the vertical holes using a pointy object such as a toothpick or paperclip.

    • 4
Reinstall the burner caps properly. If they are tilted or wobbly, the gas may not ignite. Install the caps on the right burners. Some burners are smaller than others, so match the caps to the appropriate burners.

    • 5
Move the burner knob to the "Lite" position and wait for the gas to ignite. If it ignites, rotate the knob to your desired setting. If it doesn't ignite, contact a qualified appliance technician.

My Frigidaire electric range wont work (burners and oven)

The clock display works on 120 volts but the burners and oven require 240 volts. I would check the breaker or the receptacle to see if they're bad. They may be supplying only 120 volts. One more less common problem could be the terminal block on the range where the power comes in. Very rarely they will melt. BE SURE TO UNPLUG THE RANGE if you have to check the terminal block. Hope this helps.

The on indicator light for the range top will not turn of when the burners are all in the off position

The model number given is for a wall oven so I'm a little confused about the question. If you have burners on a range top as stated in the question, the on light for the burners is controlled by each individual switch. One of the switches has a stuck contact that is keeping the light on. You would have to determine which switch is stuck and replace that switch. Once that switch is replaced your problem will be solved.

Oven wont light, pilot is lite but the burners wont ignight

Bakers Pride used several different safety valves over the years. If your oven has a pilot valve that has a beige know that you hold in and turn to light the pilot, then after it lights you need to turn the beige know another half round to the "on" setting. If you push in a red button to light the pilot, it may not be getting enough heat on the thermocouple where the pilot flame should be heating it up. Be sure the main gas valve on the front of the oven is turned to the on position also. On some models the pilot will light with the main gas valve in the off position. If you look at the pilot flame while it is burning, make sure that it is hitting the pencil sized thermopile enough to make it glow red. If not bend it slightly to improve the heating.

My Frigidaire Oven display panel won't come on all of a sudden. Burners and oven light work. It could be from a surge in electricity. How do I 1) check fuses or breaker? Where are these located? How could...

If the burners and oven light are working, then you have power coming in. It's most likely a defective EOC. If you haven't tried turning off the circuit breaker for 5-10 mins to reset any glitch associated with a surge or spike, do so. If this doesn't reset the control, the EOC will need to be replaced.

Oven won't get hot

If your oven still uses a pilot light, it also probably has a thermocouple positioned in the pilot's flame path to detect whether if is safe to turn on the main burner. When the thermocouple fails, the oven thinks the pilot light is not lit and will not let gas flow to the primary burners. The part isn't costly (should be <$20 US) but replacing it may require some expensive labor.

SF 3000 EWWO how to light pilot

You can raise the top lid of the stove to light the pilot lights for the top burners.
The oven is controlled by a electric glowbar ignitor.
Make sure the cord is plugged into a electrical outlet.
If it is and the oven does not work the glowbar ignitor must be replaced.

I just cleaned by hand by magic chef wall oven and now I can't

Pilotless ignition means that a hot surface ignitor lights the oven burner. It does take a little bit of time to light the burner. Maybe 30 seconds. If you want to make sure it lights take the bottom panel out from the oven and observe the hot surface glow and the burners light. No real danger as the gas valve will only open after the hot surface ignitor has satisfied the gas valve. Let me know how it goes. ken
