According to you your server doesn't work properly and you get a beep sound and a still HD led, OK don't worry.In this situation I think you don't get display also. Anyways, first unscrew your system and open the panel of the cabinet. Then unlock the memory slot holder, take out the memory/Ram. make it clear by eraser. clean the metallic chip which is attach with slot. after that replace it again in same or other slot carefully by a little push. notice the notch of the Ram while replace it. It will solve your problem.

I would check the BIOS to make sure the system is registering the second cpu. (The 2nd cpu needs to be in the slot when you do this.) If it is not, enable it. If after rebooting your server still will not see the 2nd cpu, you will need to check the socket with a voltimeter to make sure power is getting to the socket slot.

By the way have you purchased the VRM module . If you are about to upgrade the server with second processor you should have VRM also . Without VRM , the second process wouldn't work and it will light out amber LED(Orange) . Now If you have VRM then just swap the processor and check. That is check whether the second processor works while insert it in first processor slot. If it works then it relates to motherboard issue .

You probably removed the "primary" CPU,
and the computer cannot operate only with the "secondary" CPU installed.

Move the CPU from the "secondary" slot to the "primary" slot.

This can be caused by a processor / VRM issue or even a system board fail. Try dropping to a single proc and VRM and swap test with the others.

Did you receive a VRM with the the PRC upgrade kit? And have you installed it?

The following items are/should be included in a microprocessor upgrade kit:
• A microprocessor (PRC)
• A heat sink
• Heat-sink retention clip(s)
• A voltage regulator module (VRM),
Your upgrade kit may also include a cooling fan.

If you are adding a secondary microprocessor, examine the VRM to ensure that it is the correct VRM for your system. Install the VRM in the appropriate secondary VRM connector, ensuring that the latches at each end of the connector engage. If you received two VRMs with the upgrade kit, replace the primary VRM already installed in the system with one of the VRMs from the upgrade kit.
Note: The system does not support mismatched VRMs.

intel 845 gvsr motherboard have two most problem

vrm circuit fail IC ADP3168 {between the cpu and core volt connector}
f7338 mosfet ic fail {between the memory slot and ide connector}

The easy answer is: Did you ensure the CPU fan connector is attached to the PROPER motherboard CPU fan power pins? The 2nd easy answer is: Are you sure your CPU is properly placed inside the socket? Could it be tilted slightly up on one side? The more complicated 3rd answer is: I've seen people use the spray can of AIR, which, believe it or not causes a moisture problem AND can overly cool a component. Although the motherboard looks fine, it won't boot or power on until the part(s) rewarm to room temperature or the moisture dissipates. This is how I solve this problem. I remove the motherboard or open it completely up to clean it with 80psi of compressed air. (remove all components) If it had previously been cleaned with a can of AIR, I let it sit for half an hour. When putting the parts back together (leave the HD, the CD, the floppy disconnected), (oh...ensure your front panel connectors are properly on the correct motherboard pins too.) 1)take extra caution with both the video card and the memory chip slots!! Inspect the video card gold edge and video card slot for a few strands of carpet fiber or DUST bunnies wedged or attached to the card/slot (which causes the computer to not power ON) 2) Inspect the memory sticks and memory slots in the same manner. (I had to see it with a magnifying glass, to see the problem) Once back together, if it boots, I'm done. If it didn't boot, I replace the power supply. Hi, Mistyman here. All Asus mother boards that have dual channel RAM slot must have equal ram in each slot. In most cases the paired slots are matched by color for easy ID, some are identified by a printed ID on the mother board. With your board you will have to have run all of your RAM for the one CPU. If you have only one stick this must be in slot one. If you are using two sticks then utilise the dual chanel system that ASUS have and use A1 & A3. To activate the second CPU you will need to install matching sticks of RAM in the B slots. both cpu's will need to have the value of RAM to work together properly. CPU one = slot A for RAM CPU two = Slot B for RAM. Goodluck, the ASUS boards are a value product.
