We have 2 scrubbin bubbles shower cleaners. Neither of them work. I have dried them out, replaced the batteries and even put vaseline on them as suggested on your site.. What do I do now?
I've already tried the pencil eraser and it doesn't help. My unit seems to work fine WITHOUT the bottle but doesn't go through a complete cycle with the bottle. Any suggestions? Btw, the batteries are undamagedI've already tried the pencil eraser and it doesn't help. My unit seems to work fine WITHOUT the bottle but doesn't go through a complete cycle with the bottle. CLEAN you battery cables and battery even if it is new! You can use a old knife or the edge of a screw drive it should be real shinny. Then put some Vaseline or grease on them then and reconnect it. If that doesn't work check the other ends of the battery cables. The Vaseline or grease will protect the connections.
the rubber seal/surround is either dried out, cracked or damaged. Clean both mating surfaces with glass cleaner & add some type of protectant or even Vaseline. If this still doesnt work, replace the rubber suround
You need to replace the tub diverter/spout. There are two kinds, I hope you have the kind with an allen head set screw on the bottom side of the spout near the shower wall. These are super easy to replace ! Loosen the set screw, twist the spout a little and it should slide off. When installing the new spout, smear some vaseline on the copper pipe sticking out, this will help seal the new O rings in the spout.
The other kind of spout has pipe threads in it. They can be a little more tricky. I got called to a house one time. The plastic female threads on the spout cracked when the plumber installed it. The water ran down the inside of the wall and did damage down stairs. The leak could not be seen until the sheet rock down stairs fell down from being soaked. You need to put some pipe dope on the threads, then tighten the spout on by hand, so as not to scratch it with a pump pliers.
I've found that the batteries lose contact after w while, so here is what I do:
1) take a pencil eraser and rub each of the contacts with it.
2) lightly apply some petroleum jelly to each end of the battery.
3) make sure the compartment is completely dry. Take a small piece of paper towel, roll it up, and, with the pencil, rub the inside of each of the battery compartments.
4) re-insert batteries and try again. It should work!
I just experienced the same problem for the third time. Call J&J Customer Care 1-800-558-5252. Select option 3.
Explain your problem and they will send you a coupon for a new Scrubbing Bubbles Starter Kit with a full bottle of solution in 7 to 10 business days. I would not waste my time to take the old apart, just call and get a NEW ONE.
