When i hook up my m audio to my sound system, i get a steady unpleasant sount

It could be a couple of things. First the ground on the inside came loose and needs to be reattached. Second if it is an older model some have the capacity to take records. Records have a special prosseser that is diffrent than a digital input. It is very sensitive. That mght be stuck on. I think that it is the ground. Let me know.
